The Acid Bomb is a foe in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is only found in the Mineshaft Maze and in the Temple of Trials as part of the Neon Valhalla fight.
Appearance[]
The Acid Bomb has a cylindrical copper base with silver accents and metallic brown fins the same color as its launching frame. Its warhead is a large glass orb mostly filled with bright green acid. When launched, it deploys a large white parachute to slow its descent enough that it only lightly touches the ground - unfortunately, the impact is still enough to detonate its corrosive payload.
As with the other Bombs and Turrets in the Mineshaft Maze, the Acid Bomb shares the same color scheme as the Steam Fish and the Neon Valhalla.
Overview[]
If left to its own devices, the Acid Bomb launches itself on its fourth turn, inflicting heavy magical Bio damage with a high chance of Burn. The attack is extremely accurate, but also 100% elemental; as such, it can be negated or even absorbed by party members with sufficient Bio resistance. Burn resistance can be helpful to mitigate its associated status effect, but the status is mild enough that it can removed with Purify on the next turn or even ignored for the most part. However, the Acid Bomb will inflict Scorch instead of Burn on higher difficulty levels, so resisting/removing it becomes a greater priority.
Of course, the best solution to the Acid Bomb's attack is to stop it from launching entirely. The three lamps on the bomb indicate how much time you have left, with the green upper one lighting up when it's ready to detonate. If the Acid Bomb is afflicted with Syphon at this point, it will be unable to detonate and immediately Surrender; alternatively, Doom or Instant Death can wipe it out before it can launch. However, the Acid Bomb is very resistant to all of these status effects, so status-boosting gear is recommended to improve the chances of success.
If Syphon is infeasible, Stun and Freeze will stall the Acid Bomb's countdown for their durations; the latter is particularly effective, since its Stun resistance is rather high. Conveniently, it's also weak to Water, Thunder, and Ice, enabling a powerful Wet combo. Alternatively, Bomb and Earth attacks (preferably boosted by the relevant statuses) can be used to exploit its worst weaknesses and destroy it before it can finish its countdown; in any case, its low Evade means that the party will have little worries of missing their target.
With "More Foe Resistance" enabled, the Acid Bomb gains a Bomb absorption and becomes fully immune to Syphon, Doom, and Instant Death. It also becomes neutral to Thunder and Ice, leaving Water and especially Earth as its only elemental weaknesses.
Unlike most foes in EBF5 and like other Bombs, the Acid Bomb cannot be captured to be used as a summon.

Battle Logic[]
The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.
- Counter = 1 and Syphoned → Surrender;
- Counter = 1 → Decrease Counter by 1 → Launch;
- Counter > 1 → Decrease Counter by 1.
* Counter starts at 3.
Unlike most other foes, the Acid Bomb doesn't get a counter when "Counter-Attacking Foes" is enabled.
