The Chocolate Slime is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is a member of the Slimes enemy group, and can be found scattered around, particularly in Mystic Woods.

Appearance

Chocolate Slimes are small brown blobs of an apparently non-chocolate pudding substance. They have two small eyes and a tiny ":3" style expression, as well as a variety of sweets on their head, including:

  1. A triangular shard of solid chocolate.
  2. A small whipped cream swirl.
  3. A patch of fudge sauce with small white sprinkles and two rolled wafers on the right side of its head.

Overview

As a Slime, the Chocolate Slime is a largely inconsequential foe. It uses physical attacks with a slight Earth element (except for the fully elemental Tremor); while this makes them hard to resist, their damage output is unimpressive at best. However, some of its attacks have a small chance of inflicting Confuse, as well as Hungry on harder difficulties. While both of these statuses are very annoying, the Chocolate Slime as a whole is not a very threatening foe.

The Chocolate Slime does absorb Earth and is immune to Wind, but as long as the player does not use either of these elements, they should be able to dispatch it with ease.

Battle Logic

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

Action

  • If catch score >55 and all players are Lovable → Surrender;
  • If Berserked → Jump & Back;
  • If Syphoned → Jump & Dissolve;
  • Otherwise → Jump & Back (1/5), Jump & Dissolve (1/5), Wafer (1/5), Tremor (1/5), Spit (1/5).

Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)

  • 100% → Spit.

Additionally, if any front line player has equipment that scares Slimes, the Chocolate Slime will immediately Surrender and Flee on their turn.

Summon

The foe can be captured to be used as a summon. It is the easiest method of debuffing a foe's Accuracy, being very cheap and inflicting a significant stat drop.
