Dark Pulse (Pulse in Epic Battle Fantasy 3 and 4) is an advanced Dark-elemental skill available for Natalie in Epic Battle Fantasy 3, 4 and 5. It is the single-target counterpart of her recurring Pulsar spell.
Description[]
When cast, Dark Pulse causes a miniature black sphere with red outlines to manifest over the target. It pulsates briefly before dissipating.
Dark Pulse deals strong magical Dark damage with an additional effect; in EBF3, it debuffs Magic Defence, in EBF4, it debuffs Magic Attack, and in EBF5, it inflicts Heavy.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]
Aside from being one of Natalie's skills, Pulse is a bonus spell from the Dark Tooth. Its power is actually identical to that of Pulsar at each upgrade level, but its Magic Defence debuff is weaker; on the other hand, it costs less MP to use, has lower AP requirements per level, and can be focused on singular targets (which is particularly useful in the later areas, where Dark-resistant foes are common).
Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]
Pulse is almost identical to its EBF3 incarnation, but it's slightly stronger when fully upgraded and gets its debuffing effect from Level 1; it also debuffs Magic Attack instead of Magic Defence this time. Its power and status strength per level are slightly higher than Pulsar, but it's single-target and slightly less accurate.
Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]
Pulse underwent noticeable changes for this game; its name was changed to "Dark Pulse", and its side effect now inflicts Heavy rather than a stat drop. It also has more Base Power per level than previous appearances; since its status chance is identical to that of Pulsar and it lacks a cooldown, it's actually more efficient for damaging or applying Heavy to single targets.
The Dark Tooth has the ability to counter attacks with Dark Pulse.
