The Dish Turret, also known as Satelite Dish (sic), is a foe that appears in Epic Battle Fantasy 2 and 4. It is deployed by the Valkyrie Tank in EBF2 and found in the Waste Disposal Plant in EBF4.
Appearance
The Dish Turret is a tall, somewhat jagged piece of metal with at least eight satellite dishes and three antennae mounted on it. The dishes can rotate forwards for one of its attacks. It is almost entirely metallic gray, except for some tiny yellow lights near the very top.
Like all Turrets, the Dish Turret emerges from a metallic panel on the ground or a hatch on the back of the Valkyrie Tank.
Overview
In EBF2, the Satelite Dish is the Valkyrie Tank's dedicated support/disruptor unit, being able to inflict Seal and debuff Attack, Magic Attack, Defence or Magic Defence. It can also use a moderately powerful Thunder attack that hits multiple times, which it spams if afflicted with Seal. On Hard or Epic difficulty, its Debuffing Waves gain a second "hit" that can debuff Attack or Magic Attack, its Thunder attack has a substantial chance to automatically repeat itself for doubled damage, and it automatically buffs the Valkyrie's Magic Defence if it is destroyed.
In EBF4, the Dish Turret was toned down to be a regular foe instead of a final boss helper, losing its Debuffing Waves and its ability to loop its Thunder Burst. However, it maintains its disruptive tactics by harassing the party with Syphon, Dispel and Stun effects. On the other hand, it can't take a taste of its own medicine; while it resists Stun and Syphon, either effect will leave it completely helpless for their duration. The new Wet status effect also does it no favors, as it amplifies the damage of one of its most severe weaknesses; conversely, the Dish Turret can exploit Wet just as easily if applied to the players (often by a Fridge Turret).
In EBF2, the Satelite Dish is weak to Bomb and especially Thunder, but resists Fire, Poison, and Earth (to a lesser degree), as well as all status effects and debuffs (being completely immune to Poison and Blind). When it returned as the Dish Turret in EBF4, it became immune to Wind, Poison, Burn and Stagger while becoming resistant to Freeze, Doom, and Death; on the other hand, its Earth resistance became a weakness, its Bomb weakness was amplified, and it gained an additional weakness to Water.
