The Drill Bits are a female headgear introduced in Epic Battle Fantasy 3. Their armor counterpart is the Breastplate in EBF3 and EBF4, while the Obsidian Armor in EBF5 can be considered at some extent to be their armor counterpart. Their male hat and armor counterparts are the Knight's Helmet and the Heroic Armor.
Description[]
The Drill Bits appear as a pair of small grey drills that are worn on either side of the wearer's head (similar to the Cat Ears, but without the headband). In EBF5, they have much narrower threads and small clips at the bottom to help secure them. If worn with the Obsidian Armor, the drills' color changes to black.
The Drill Bits style their wearer's hair into tight, drill-like ringlets; in EBF3 and 4, they also seem to drastically increase the length and volume of the wearer's hair, to the point where Natalie's ringlets are almost as long as she is tall. In EBF5, their ringlets are identical to those of the Pope Hat, the Spider Bobble, and the Holly Hairpin, among others.
The Drill Bits emphasize physical bulk by giving their wearer a great Defence boost; they usually also provide a huge amount of Attack for a hat. Unfortunately, their Magic Defence is average at best, and they're usually weak to Thunder and Stun.
Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]
The Drill Bits are a primarily defensive hat, with the best Defence of any female hat backed by great Magic Defence and decent HP. They strengthen Rockslide (which is cast with the Earthball item), giving Natalie some decent Earth coverage if Matt's skills are insufficient in this regard.
In terms of raw bulk, the Drill Bits are only matched by the Cow Horns, which have less Defence and more HP; this makes the Drill Bits a little less magically bulky but a little more physically bulky, which shores up Natalie's worse defensive stat. Their elemental weakness is rather common where they're obtained, but this can be mitigated by the Red Dress or Staves like the Crystal Staff and the Thunder Spear.
The Drill Bits are slightly weak to Thunder. The degree of their weakness doesn't change as they're upgraded.
Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]
While they lack special effects and their Magic Defence is mediocre, the Drill Bits give unmatched Attack and Defence among female hats. Anna can make better use of the Attack bonus, but Natalie appreciates the boost to her weaker Defence; either way, a more versatile headgear may be preferred unless the player is expecting to weather primarily physical attacks. In particular, the Fur Hat trades a bit of Defence and significant Attack for better Magic Defence, three elemental resistances, and a useful auto-summon, while the Slime Hat is arguably even bulkier than the Drill Bits due to its excellent HP (although it lacks any offensive benefits).
The Drill Bits have weaknesses to Thunder and Stun, which remain constant at any upgrade level.
Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]

The Drill Bits are a physically-oriented headgear with the best Attack and Defence of any female hat; unfortunately, they have literally nothing else aside from one elemental resistance and two fairly common weaknesses. Although they can be effective for all-out physical offense or defending against foes who almost exclusively use physical attacks (such as Ultra Chibi Knight), more versatile hats are preferable in most situations; for instance, the Fur Hat has superior all-around bulk and the Royal Crown has significant balanced offensive power.
The Drill Bits are weak to Thunder and Stun, but resistant to Earth. The weaknesses remain constant, but the resistance maxes out at 50% at Level 5.
Equip Remix[]
The Alt Drill Bits grant a good amount of Defence and Magic Defence in addition to a nice Attack boost. They also have a chance to summon Jack to double the party's offensive stats between turns, but this is incredibly unreliable; as such, they should mainly be used for their stats and resistances, particularly in Anna's physical attacker build.
From a defensive standpoint, the Alt Drill Bits are slightly outclassed by the Alt Fur Hat and the Alt Pope Hat, which have identical defenses and additional bonuses; offensively, there are several hats with more Attack. However, they arguably have the best combination of bulk and physical power among all female hats in Equip Remix; the Alt Blue Elephant comes close, but its auto-Berserk status makes it much less versatile.
The Alt Drill Bits resist Bomb, Wind, Tired, and Weaken, becoming immune to the latter two at Level 5.
Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]
The Drill Bits are found in the Kitten Kingdom Ruins, as part of the reward for completing Simon's quest.
