The Earth Elemental is a foe in Epic Battle Fantasy 3 and 4. It appears mostly around sandy and rocky areas, such as the Kitten Kingdom Ruins and the Temple of Godcat.
Appearance[]
The Earth Elemental is a large, floating monster with a vaguely beast-like head. As its name suggests, it is made of jagged rocks; its head and upper body are brown with black and tan accents, while its lower body is a warm grey with tan trim on the bottom. It has black eyes (although it is unclear if these are rocks or holes within its head) and a strange, hook-like horn. It has red gemstones on its lower body and the long spike protruding from its upper back, and a yellow gemstone on its left forearm. Instead of hands, it has weapons; a silver blade on the left arm and a rocky cannon on the right.
Overview[]
Earth Elementals are usually encountered in mid to late-game areas, and they shouldn't be taken lightly. Most of their attacks are physical and single-target, but they can also fire a series of magical Bomb projectiles from their cannons to hit random players. They always absorb Earth and nullify Thunder, but Ice and Bomb are consistent weaknesses.
Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]
The Earth Elemental is a remarkably diverse foe, with a wide arsenal of elemental attacks. It has Earth, Bomb and Poison options, but a programming oversight gave its Stab and Multi-Stab attacks a partial Ice element. Most of its attacks are single-target physical moves, but The Dead hits the entire party at once and Blasts deals magic damage while hitting a random player with each shot. Epic difficulty adds more hits to Blasts and Multi-Stab, allowing them to deal extreme damage; on the other hand, its support abilities are limited to a high Poison chance on The Dead.
Given the high power of the Earth Elemental's sole magic attack, Defence buffs alone aren't guaranteed to reduce its damage output. The safest option is to build the party's Defence and Ice resistance while inflicting Syphon on the foe; this limits it to its stabbing moves, making it more predictable. Berserk is another option; although it increases the Earth Elemental's power, it also locks it into its basic Stab attack, which may be preferable compared to Multi-Stab on Epic.
The Earth Elemental resists Fire, is immune to both Thunder and Poison (the element and the status), and absorbs Earth. It is weak to Ice, Bomb, and especially Wind; Shockwave and Power Metal will do severe damage, but Iceberg, Iceshard, and Airstrike are perfectly valid options as well.
The Earth Elemental is somewhat notable as one of only two foes that can drop an Emerald, although the Ancient Monolith has a much better drop rate on the Material. On the other hand, it has by far the best Geode drop rate of any foe in EBF3.
Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]
The Earth Elemental uses its cannon for magic-based Bomb attacks on random players (firing extra shots on Hard or Epic difficulty), but the rest of its moves are physical and single-target. It can stab a player (either once or four times) for non-elemental damage, or cast Quake and Cataclysm (depending on its HP) for part-Earth damage. Its Blasts can occasionally Stagger the target, Quake has high Accuracy, and Cataclysm has an enhanced critical chance, emphasizing the Elemental's focus on pure damage output over defense or support for its allies.
Since the Earth Elemental uses mainly physical attacks, debuffing its Attack while raising the party's Defence will reduce much of its damage output; adding Bomb resistance will mitigate its Blasts, which are quite powerful despite running on a terrible Magic Attack stat. Syphon and Berserk can lock it into its basic stab attacks, but this may not be as useful as it sounds, depending on the party's resistances. Syphon is preferable for not boosting the Elemental's power, but Berserk is easier to inflict. For damage purposes, it's most efficient to Wet it with a Water attack before following up with Ice skills; conveniently, the foe is weak to both elements.
The Earth Elemental is immune to Fire, Thunder and Wind on top of absorbing Earth; conversely, it has serious weaknesses to Bomb, Ice, and Water. It's also immune to Poison while resisting Stun, Freeze, Syphon, Doom, and Instant Death. If "More Foe Resistance" is enabled, it absorbs Bio, strongly resists debuffs to its Attack and Magic Attack, and becomes neutral to Water.

Stab and Multi-Stab being Ice-elemental might have been a mistake, as similar attacks of other Elementals fit their respective monster's theme, while these two don't. A possible explanation is that these two attacks were copy-pasted from Ice Elemental's movepool without changing their element, hence the identical stats.
