You won't be able to reach the Battery (#2) on your first trip through this screen. Remember it for later when you finally reach the beginning of the walkway a few screens up.
You can only lower the spikes around Chest 2 by grabbing the Battery.

  - Wave #2: Two Sludge Slimes, one Drill Bot, one Swordslinger, and one Gunslinger
- Big Sludge Slime: Two waves. (must be cleared to progress)
  - Wave #1: Three Sludge Slimes and two Steel Fish
  - Wave #2: Two Sludge Slimes, two Steel Fish, and one Big Sludge Slime
