The Equilibrium is a large black sword with silver edges and no apparent crossguard. It has a pair of small, squared projections at the base of the blade, as well as two spade-shaped projections near the similarly-shaped tip. Flowing white runes adorn the middle of the blade.
Befitting its status as the reward for beating the toughest challenges of Battle Mountain, the Equilibrium is one of - if not the - strongest sword in the game, with immense power and modest drawbacks. It has unparalleled offensive stats, outright doubling Attack and Magic Attack at max level; the former is only surpassed by Anarchy, and the latter is unrivaled among swords. Its resistances are perfect for the endgame, which has a wide array of Dark and Holy-based foes. To make the Equilibrium even better, it occasionally gives Matt Auto-Revive between turns, and it has a seamless Syphon infliction chance with Weapon-elemental skills.
However, all that power comes at the price of modest Accuracy and Evade penalties, which can be worsened by the Equilibrium's occasional Legend counters inflicting Tired on Matt. While these are trivial in comparison to the Anarchy's weaknesses, having Cleanse on another party member will be very useful.
The Equilibrium can also be used as an upgraded version of the Rune Blade (despite lacking several Rune Blade features like MP drain), since it has slightly higher Magic Attack and twice the Syphon infliction chance. With Unleash, a maxed-out Equilibrium has a 200% chance to inflict the status onto a single target, which is guaranteed to Syphon any Monoliths as long as the attack hits.

- As with many other weapons found on Battle Mountain, the Equilibrium metaphorically represents one of the bosses in the main game; in this case, Godcat.
