The Blue Jelly is a recurring foe in Epic Battle Fantasy series. It usually appears near water, such as Rock Lake (in Epic Battle Fantasy 3), Waste Disposal Plant's toxic pool, Lankyroot Jungle's river and Goldenbrick Resort's docks (in Epic Battle Fantasy 4). It is a member of the Jelly enemy class.

Appearance[]

Hence its name, the Blue Jelly is a jellyfish which has a blue dome-shaped bell. It has several oral arms, two of which have bubble-shaped appendages at the end of them. After the Battle Mountain update, it was also given a pair of eyes.

Overview[]

Blue Jellies are mid-tier foes that pose little threat outside of their ability to inflict mildly annoying status effects and, in some games, strike your entire party with multi-target attacks. Interestingly, their elemental affinity varies between games.

In EBF2, Blue Jellies use Thunder and Poison attacks which have a small chance to Stun. They have a handful of resistances, being moderately resistant to Fire, Thunder, Water, and Poison. However, they're weak to Ice and Earth, so they can reliably be dealt with using Quake, Iceberg, or Glacier.

In EBF3, Blue Jellies were reworked to be Water-oriented foes. They now use Water attacks which can debuff the party members' Evade. They also have an attack which deals Water damage to all players and foes; since Blue Jellies are usually found with Water-absorbing foes, this works in their favor. However, they cannot do anything when under Syphon. In EBF3 they only resist Fire and Wind, and are very weak to Thunder and Ice.

In EBF4, the Blue Jellies continue to focus on Water attacks. They have a more diverse range of Water attacks, and can now apply both Wet and Attack debuffs. In particular, they can use Cloudburst to Wet everything at once. Also, Syphoning a Blue Jelly no longer has any effect. While they are not too dangerous alone, when paired with foes that use Thunder and Ice it can deal set up some serious combos. In EBF4 they only resist Fire and Wind, and are very weak to Poison, Thunder and Ice.
