The Diamond Bit is a foe that appears in Epic Battle Fantasy 4. It appears on Battle Mountain alongside the Diamond Golem, as well as alongside its fellow Bits in the Monster Marathon. As such, it is exclusive to the Steam release of the game and the post-Battle Mountain update version of the Premium Pack.

Appearance[]

Like other Bits in EBF4, the Diamond Bit appears as a floating grey rock with crystals sticking out of it. Unlike other Bits, it has a refined, almost deliberate-looking design, being a perfectly round disc with a diamond shape engraved on its side. It has eight white diamond crystals sticking out of its sides, with small crystals in the four cardinal directions and four larger crystals at equal intervals between them.

Overview[]

The Diamond Bit is a Holy-based foe that specializes in supporting its allies while crippling the party. It can cast Glitter to deal mediocre magical Holy damage with a high chance of a decent Accuracy debuff, or simultaneously buff the Attack and Magic Attack of a single ally. However, the real issue comes from its ability to drain a player's MP; in a single move, it can take out two-thirds of their current MP (increased to 88% in higher difficulty levels)! Like other Bits, it can sacrifice itself to cast one final spell - in this case, Holy Fire, which can inflict Dispel and a Magic Defence debuff on top of a fair amount of accurate magical Holy damage. Unlike other Bits, it will only use this move when Berserk.

On its own, the Diamond Bit is a minor threat, easily defeated by targeting one of its many weaknesses. However, it is almost always found alongside other Bits and the Diamond Golem, where its support spells make it far more irritating. As such, the party should keep their offensive stats buffed and use multi-target attacks to maximize the chances of taking out the Diamond Bit while damaging the boss. If killing it outright isn't an option, Syphon will prevent it from doing anything for its duration; Stun and Freeze will also work. It's also incredibly easy to Curse, but between its annoying support skills, Holy absorption, and low base HP, wearing down its defenses is usually a waste of time.

The Diamond Bit absorbs Holy, is immune to Bio, resists Fire, Ice, Earth, and Thunder, and takes extra damage from Bomb, Dark, Water, and Wind. It has no debuff resistance, and its status resistances are limited to a Poison immunity and an extreme Curse weakness. Activating "More Foe Resistance" makes it resistant to Wind, Water, and Stagger while greatly reducing its Bomb weakness.
