The Crucified Fallen are a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. Crucified Fallen are primarily found in the Forgotten Ruins and the Frozen Valley. It is a member of the Fallen enemy group.

Appearance[]

The Crucified Fallen is a suit of silver armor animated by the wrathful spirit of a departed warrior. It has four-fingered gauntlets, large pauldrons, and a round helmet with two horns or ridges along the top. Two orange eyes can be seen glowing amid the darkness of its visor, and it wields a golden scimitar with a brown hilt. It also wears a golden cloak with red along the bottom, as well as a red sword symbol in the middle. A smaller red cape/vest is worn around its torso, fastened by a gold band with a round golden brooch or clasp.

Like all Fallen, the Crucified Fallen has no visible limbs, appearing to float just above the ground with its hands floating at its sides.

Overview[]

The Crucified Fallen has some magic skills - Holy Light for damage and possibly Weaken, Enchantment to make a player more vulnerable to physical damage, and a buffing skill that gives it several stacks of Brave and Morale - but it mainly uses physical attacks with its scimitar, most of which are partly Holy-based. Its most dangerous (and inaccurate) move is Sabre Swirl, which summons copies of its sword to converge on a single player for strong physical damage and a small chance of Instant Death that becomes much higher on Hard or Epic difficulty. These difficulty levels also give it an Attack boost when it buffs itself and allow it to inflict Disable with its Thrust attack.

Syphon and Berserk will prevent a Crucified Fallen from using its fancier moves, leaving raw physical damage and Disable as its only advantages. If that's not an option, try to reduce its Accuracy or boost the party's Evade to minimize the risk of being hit by Sabre Swirl. As with all Fallen, it can be easily forced into a Berserk state by using ghost-scaring equipment; if its HP is low enough, it will even Surrender and flee outright.

The Crucified Fallen absorbs Holy, Thunder, and Earth to a lesser degree. It is also resistant to Bomb and immune to several status effects: Weaken, Tired, Instant Death, Doom, Curse, and Bad Luck. On the other hand, it is weak to Water and especially Dark.

Enabling "More Foe Resistance" drastically changes the Crucified Fallen's elemental resistances. It becomes immune to Dark and Bio while gaining Fire, Ice, and Water resistances; on the other hand, its Thunder resistance went from an absorption to a severe weakness. Additionally, it is now somewhat resistant to having its Attack, Defence, and Accuracy debuffed.

Battle Logic[]

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

Action

  • If catchscore >55 and all players are Lovable → Flee;
  • If Syphoned or Berserked → Double Hit (1/3), Sabre Throw (1/3), Thrust (1/3);
  • If the Crucified Fallen has Morale → Sabre Swirl (2/18), Holy Light (2/18), Enchantment (2/18),
    Thrust (3/18), Double Hit (6/18), Sabre Throw (3/18);

Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)

Additionally, if any front line player has equipment that scares Ghosts, the Crucified Fallen will immediately Surrender and Flee on their turn if <49% HP, or inflict 1x Berserk on themselves otherwise (the latter does not take up their action).

Summon[]

The Crucified Fallen can be captured to be used as a summon; it can also be randomly summoned by the Spartan Cuirass (male armor). It uses an empowered version of its Sabre Swirl attack against a single foe, dealing significant physical damage with a modest chance of Instant Death. The damage is part-Holy and slightly more accurate than normal skills.
