"Heh heh, it's hitting its own guys too! What a moron!"
―Matt seeing a Green Creep attack another foe, Epic Battle Fantasy 5

The Green Creep is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It's mainly found in No Man's Land.

Appearance[]

The Green Creep is a large pink insectoid creature with six stubby legs, four green eyes, and a pair of rounded mandibles. It has a big green turtle shell with some dark spots on its back half.

Overview[]

The Green Creep is a very straightforward foe that uses non-elemental physical attacks without any special effects. Its basic attack is to bounce on a single player's head, but its signature move is to spin its shell like a top and careen into random targets. This attack will always hit three players, but it can also hit two of the Green Creep's allies; unfortunately, the latter takes only half damage compared to players and the attack isn't especially powerful to begin with. Like all Creeps, the Green Creep can also retract into its shell for a defensive buff; in its case, it gets a big Defence buff. This move also grants Defend status on higher difficulty levels, but the Green Creep won't use it until a lower HP threshold.

While Green Creeps can theoretically kill their own allies with their 5x Shell Bump, this should not be relied upon, especially since they'll only use this version of their attack if there's at least two other foes still active. It's much easier to just kill them normally or ignore them until other enemies are dealt with; buffing the party's Defence or debuffing the Creeps' Attack removes what little threat they pose. If they buff themselves, magic attacks can ignore their boosted Defence if you don't want to Dispel the buff entirely; Giga Drill is an alternative that turns the buff against them.

The Green Creep is immune to Water and resists Wind, Stun, and Instant Death, but it's weak to Thunder and especially Earth. "More Foe Resistance" removes its Thunder weakness and allows it to absorb Wind and Bio.

Battle Logic[]

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

Action

  • If catch score >55 and all players are Lovable;
    • <79% HP → Flee;
    • Otherwise → Nothing;
  • If Berserked;
    • If there's less than 2 other foes left → 3x Shell Bump;
    • Otherwise → 5x Shell Bump;
  • <49% HP (<32% HP on Hard/Epic), and it didn't use Defend last turn → Defend;
  • Otherwise → Hop (1/3);
    • If there's less than 2 other foes left → 3x Shell Bump (2/3);
    • Otherwise → 5x Shell Bump (2/3).

Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)

  • 25%;
    • <32% HP → Defend;
    • Otherwise → 3x Shell Bump

Summon[]

The Green Creep can be captured and used as a summon; it can also be called between turns by the Alt Turtle Shell. It uses its 3x Shell Bump on a single foe, hitting them for decent non-elemental damage; if the targeted foe dies during the assault, the Green Creep will immediately target another foe (ignoring Lovable). While potentially useful for picking off weakened foes, NoLegs's retargeting skills are generally much more versatile.

Trivia[]

  • The Green Creep's appearance is based off of the Green Shell item from the Mario Kart series and Koopa Troopas from the Mario series (specifically the ones with green shells).
