The Alchemy Set is a non-elemental staff available for Natalie in Epic Battle Fantasy 4 and 5.
Description[]
The Alchemy Set is a metal staff with an arrangement of beakers and potions for a head, although its exact design changes dramatically between games. It has generally offered average Magic Attack, a resistance to Curse, and the ability to apply Random status effects with Weapon-elemental skills.
Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]
The Alchemy Set is made of white metal, with an elaborate, crescent-shaped head that contains a glass beaker with four openings. Three of these openings lead to small tubes that attach to the head of the staff, with their tips connected to glass bottles filled with colored liquid, each of which correspond to three primary colors of light (red, blue, and green). The chemicals appears to be dripping through the tubes into the beaker, creating a white solution. Both the beaker and the bottles are sealed with a small cork.
The Alchemy Set provides an average boost to Magic Attack and a hefty MP boost. While it is noteworthy for boosting non-elemental skills and periodically applying Regen, it is unique for its ability to apply the Random status effect, letting it wreak havoc on most foes. Combining it with status-changing Flairs like the Diamond Pin or the Fr*ezie Badge allows Natalie to support the party with a specific ailment, especially when the staff also allows her to counter attacks with Spectrum.
Unfortunately, while the Alchemy Set has workable offense and a useful auto-Regen, Natalie has no multi-target or multi-hit weapon-elemental attacks, limiting her ability to spread statuses despite her Spectrum counter-attack. If the player wishes to spread random statuses, having Anna use the Alchemist's Bow will have better results due to her access to Combo Shot and Arrow Rain. Regardless, the Alchemy Set is a fun weapon to use, with unique features that allow it to retain a fair bit of power despite lacking the "oomph" of most weapons or the chaotic efficiency of the Alchemist's Bow.
The Alchemy Set resists Curse, becoming fully immune at Level 5.
Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]
The Alchemy Set is composed of a straight gray metal shaft with two boiling flasks held at the top of it. The bottom of the head has two purple tubes and a small Bunsen burner, which heats the purple liquid inside the large flask. The boiling flask is sealed with a brown cork, with the opening being opposite to a smaller boiling flask containing a magenta liquid - it is unclear whether this is meant to be a byproduct or an ingredient of the purple liquid.
Normal[]
The Alchemy Set provides an average boost to Magic Attack and small bonuses for HP and Evade. It counters attacks with Spectrum, which - like Natalie's other Weapon-elemental skills - can inflict Random status effects while debuffing the Accuracy of its targets. It also increases the strength of debuffs, making it potentially useful for a debuffer build; however, the Beholding Eye tends to be a better option due to also boosting buffs alongside debuffs.
The Alchemy Set's most notable trait may be its ability to boost status infliction chances; with the Blue Elephant and the Red Dress equipped, this gives a 3.375 multiplier to status infliction and the ability to counter with a weapon-elemental attack. The player can add the status Flair of their choice to consistently rain down a wide range of debilitating statuses, but Natalie's only multi-target option for this would be Rainbow Blast, which halves status infliction rate. As such, the Alchemist's Bow is usually a superior choice for mass status infliction, but the Alchemy Set can be used to "mark" a foe with an ailment that a follow-up attack can exploit. It also works well with Syphon, allowing Natalie to easily cripple certain foes.
The Alchemy Set resists Curse, Bad Luck, Weaken and Tired. All of these become an immunity at Level 5.
Equip Remix[]
The Alt Alchemy Set has mediocre Magic Attack, but a combination of decent HP and modest defenses provides Natalie with a good amount of bulk without the serious offensive penalties of the Alt Oak Staff or the Alt Wrecking Rod. It empowers Natalie's buffs and debuffs while giving her a better chance to inflict status effects; the latter effect benefits its Weapon-elemental skills, which have a high chance of inflicting Random effects. Although this can potentially apply all sorts of powerful statuses, it's usually better to equip a status-changing Flair to give Natalie a consistent ailment; combined with her wide range of buffing and debuffing skills, she can provide ample support to the party.
Compared to the Alt Paper Fan, another staff that boosts both buffs and debuffs, the Alt Alchemy Set offers higher bulk and added support utility via its status boost in exchange for the Alt Paper Fan's substantial Evade bonus and Origami Wraith auto-summon.
The Alt Alchemy Set resists Curse, Bad Luck, Weaken, Tired, Doom, and Instant Death. It becomes immune to all of them at Level 5.

The Alchemy Set is found one screen to the right from Whitefall Town's Slime Cat, in a chest hidden behind the house.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]
The Alchemy Set is found inside a chest in the Mausoleum of the Redpine Town's graveyard. To access the chest, the player must follow a hidden path that becomes available after lighting the braziers and lowering the spikes.
