The Fire Bit, also called Golem's Balls (Fire) in Epic Battle Fantasy 2, is a recurring foe in the Epic Battle Fantasy series. It appears primarily in hot/burnt areas, such as Volcano Peak of Epic Battle Fantasy 3 and the lava area of Crystal Caverns of Epic Battle Fantasy 4; occasionally, it does the exact opposite and pops up in cold/snowy areas, such as the frozen area in EBF2 and Glacier Valley of EBF3. It is a member of the Bits enemy class.
Appearance[]
In EBF2 and 3, the Fire Bit is a levitating lump of coal with heat emanating from it. In EBF4, it is a gray rock with large clumps of red crystals, possibly rubies, spread across its body.
Overview[]
As with other Bits, the Fire Bit is most known for its self-destructive tendencies as it has the ability to ram into the players and explode to deal heavy damage; however, in earlier games the Fire Bit has no other forms of attack and will self-destruct the first chance it gets, making it an especially high priority target.
In EBF2 and 3, the Fire Bit will self-destruct on its first turn and deal Bomb damage to all frontline players (although in EBF3 it won't use this attack if it has been Syphoned). Fortunately, the Fire Bit is easy to dispose of despite it having several moderate resistances, as its HP is fairly low and it has a small number of weaknesses that are quite effective against it. In both games, the Fire Bit is very weak to Ice and Water, along with Holy in EBF2 and Bomb in EBF3. It's also very vulnerable to Syphon but immune to Stun in EBF3, and immune to Poison in all of its appearances.
In EBF4, the Fire Bit is somewhat less dangerous as it now has a single-target melee attack and can randomly choose between using this attack or self-destructing, although it will self-destruct immediately on its next turn if it's Berserked. Its attacks now deal Fire damage and have a chance to Burn the players. The Fire Bit is no longer weak to Ice, but it retains its Water and Bomb weaknesses from EBF3, and is now also weak to Wind and especially Thunder, giving players plenty of viable options for defeating it quickly.
Like other Bits, the Fire Bit is a common boss helper, appearing in fights with Giga Golem (EBF2), Tundra Mammoth (EBF3), Crystal Golem, and Diamond Golem (EBF4).
