The Fur Dress (previously known as the Viking Dress) is a female armor in Epic Battle Fantasy 3, 4 and 5. Its hat counterpart is the Fur Hat, and its male equipment counterparts are the Viking Fur and the Horned Helmet.

Description[]

The Fur Dress is a dark brown dress with a lighter brown fur trim around the hems, sleeves, and waist. It is also accompanied by red stockings and fur-trimmed red boots. Natalie's version has a small hole under the chest trim, exposing more of her cleavage.

In EBF5, the Fur Dress lost its stockings and comes with brown boots instead of red. A small pouch has been added to the belts around the waist. The fur trim across the neckline now runs diagonally, with an additional layer of dark brown material covering the left side of the wearer's chest. If Anna wears it or the Cleavage option is turned off, this layer is expanded into a tank top-like addition that covers the wearer's entire chest and part of her shoulders, with an additional strip of leather running from her right breast to her left shoulder.

The Fur Dress has consistently been a fairly bulky armor with a good amount of Defence, a resistance to Ice, and the ability to summon a powerful creature to assist the party. Aside from its first appearance in EBF3, it has also boasted a solid Magic Defence stat, giving it significant bulk on both sides of the defensive spectrum.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]

The Viking Dress's Defence stat is tied with the Green Dress and only exceeded by the Breastplate as the best of any female armor, but its Magic Defence is tied with the Ninja Skirt, the Flame Skirt, and the Camo Skirt for the worst of any female armor. When fully upgraded, it has a chance of summoning the Tundra Mammoth between turns to hit all foes with a powerful earthquake.

The Viking Dress's resistances are extremely useful in Glacier Valley, but its auto-summon is hampered by Natalie's weak Attack. As a general defensive armor, it has serious competition from the Green Dress, which has identical Defence, superior Magic Defence and HP, and a generally useful Poison effect on its auto-skill. As a Freeze-resistant armor, it competes with the Whitemage Dress, which has superior resistance and the ability to auto-cast Regen for further insurance and general healing. To add insult to injury, both armors are available much earlier than the Viking Dress.

The Viking Dress is resistant to Ice, Freeze, and Wind to a lesser extent. None of these become an immunity at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]

The Fur Dress provides three elemental resistances and fine bonuses for Magic Defence and Defence, as well as small Attack and Magic Attack increases and a chance to summon a Wooly Mammoth between turns.

The Fur Dress is effective in the Crystal Caverns thanks to its resistances, but other armors can give it stiff competition for day-to-day use. The Flame Skirt has decent Accuracy and Evade bonuses, the Santa Outfit provides slightly more bulk and a MP bonus (although its auto-skill requires some thought to avoid hampering the party), and the Camo Skirt trades the offensive boosts for a chance to cast Medipack between turns. Additionally, Anna may prefer the likes of Ranger Skirt or the Maid Outfit, which have comparable bulk and superior Attack; the former also has a good Evade boost and the latter is immune to two elements and provides automatic Cleanse support.

The Fur Dress resists Wind, Ice and Water. None of these become an immunity at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]

Normal[]

With great Magic Defence and Defence, as well as small bonuses to Attack and Magic Attack, the Fur Dress is a fairly well-balanced armor. It powers up the wearer's Ice skills and increases the party's chances of capturing foes, but its most interesting ability summons a Viking Monolith between turns. While incredibly unreliable, the ability to automatically grant Haste to the entire party is a powerful asset, particularly for players using the Fur Dress for its capturing purposes; it's also more reliable and lower-maintenance than the Summer Kimono's automatic Cherry Blossom effect.

Aside from its capturing utility, the Fur Dress runs into competition from the Santa Skirt, another Ice-boosting armor with similar resistances, superior defensive stats, and a higher Magic Attack that Natalie particularly appreciates. On the other hand, Anna may prefer the Ranger Skirt for capturing builds; it's not quite as bulky as the Fur Dress, but its higher Attack and great Evade have good synergy with her base stats. The Maid Outfit also has identical offenses and defenses along with decent HP and more reliable utility, thanks to its item boosts,

The Fur Dress has resistances to Ice, Water, Chill and Freeze, becoming immune to the latter two at Level 5.

Equip Remix[]

The Alt Fur Dress is a hardy armor that combines amazing Magic Defence and Defence with a modest HP boost. It actually has the best Defence and HP among female armor in Equip Remix (although several other armors match it in the latter), and it's tied with the Alt Dark Gown for the second-best Magic Defence of female armors (only behind the Alt Obsidian Armor). Additionally, it increases the effectiveness of Ice and Earth skills while also making it easier for the wearer to capture foes.

The Alt Fur Dress's elemental boosts are particularly useful for Anna, but Natalie can make use of the Ice boost with her natural skills and learn Gaia Blossom to exploit the Earth boost. It's a good choice for Anna's bulky attacker build, given the Alt Obsidian Armor's less synergistic elemental boosts; conversely, it's Natalie's best option for capturing builds, since Anna gets much more mileage from the Alt Ranger Skirt. The Alt Santa Skirt is slightly more efficient for pure Ice damage due to having some offensive stats and two auto-skills, although it's also significantly frailer.

The Alt Fur Dress has resistances to Ice, Earth, Chill and Freeze, with the last two becoming an immunity at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]

The Viking Dress can be found in a chest in Glacier Valley, directly to the right of the small volcanoes.

"I hope this is made from fake fur... With the number of animals being slaughtered out here... that's unlikely."
―Natalie, Epic Battle Fantasy 5

The Fur Dress is found at the end of Hope Harbor, inside a chest just outside of the Ice Cave. The chest is accessible after defeating Jotun.
