GUOYE is a miniboss and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5 introduced in the v2 update. It's found in a secret room in the Frozen Valley, one screen left of the Slime Cat.

Appearance[]

GUOYE is a round blob of purple slime rendered in an 8-bit style. Its only features are large droplets falling off of its lower edge, and a single white eye with a slit-like purple pupil in the center of its body. The eye is half-lidded, as if GUOYE is bored or carefully scrutinizing the players.

GUOYE's arcade room is located on a floating island in outer space, resembling The Beyond but purple-tinted. A hidden ice cavern contains a portal that connects to the arcade island and is guarded by three Viking Monoliths (with a Cosmic Monolith replacing the middle one with Foe Remix enabled.)

Overview[]

GUOYE has strong offensive stats, along with above-average Accuracy and Evade. It uses single and multi-targeting physical attacks along with randomly-targeting multi-hit spells; they can deal non-elemental, Ice, Wind, and Dark damage, but a 25% elemental degree greatly reduces the effectiveness of resistances. All of its attacks can inflict rare and dangerous status effects like Freeze, Disable, Invisible and Enchanted; most of them can also reduce the party's defenses or Evade. On Hard or Epic difficulty, the infliction chances on some of its ailments increases; notably, Demon Swords gains a whopping 300% Freeze chance.

Between spells that can apply their effects with each individual hit to compensate for their relatively low infliction chances, the massive Freezing potential of Demon Swords, and enough intelligence to avoid hitting players with the "wrong" attacks if they're Invisible or Enchanted, GUOYE can easily set up extremely damaging combos on the party, especially since two are fought at once. Freeze immunity is all but mandatory, strong Disable resistance can make Slime Slashes less annoying, and Morale is useful to prevent its Defence and Magic Defence debuffs. On the offensive side of things, the party should focus on massive Earth damage; not only is the element one of GUOYE's only weaknesses (or its only weakness in a "More Foe Resistance" challenge), it has an incredible vulnerability to Heavy. Focusing down one GUOYE will cause the other to go Berserk, but dispelling the status and reducing it to less than 49% of its HP will scare it into retreat.

GUOYE absorbs Bio, Water, Wind, and Dark while being weak to Earth and Holy. It is immune to Stun, Chill, Freeze, Doom, and Instant Death while being strongly resistant to Accuracy and Evade debuffs and fairly resistant to Syphon, Stagger, Bad Luck, Curse, Tired, and Weaken; however, it is extremely vulnerable to Wet, Heavy, Dry and Light. It also has no resistance to HP debuffs and only modest resistance to Attack, Magic Attack, Defence, and Magic Defence debuffs.

With "More Foe Resistance" enabled, GUOYE loses its Holy weakness and becomes completely immune to Syphon and Stagger. Additionally, its resistance to Attack and Magic Attack debuffs is doubled, and it becomes resistant to Dispel and nearly immune to Burn and Scorch.

GUOYE gains up to 24% extra Attack, Magic Attack, HP and Accuracy depending on how many optional bosses have been killed, medals awarded and monster cards obtained:

After level 29, GUOYE gains a 5% boost to Attack and Magic Attack, and a 2.5% boost to HP and Accuracy on every level-up (these boosts stack additively, acting as a multiplier). This boost caps out at level 36.

Battle Logic[]

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

Action

  • If no other foes are left, <49% HP, and they're not Berserked → Flee;
  • If Syphoned → Slime Hands;
  • If Berserked → Black Balls;
  • Otherwise → Slime Hands (1/4), Black Balls (1/4), Slime Slashes (1/4), Demon Swords (1/4).

*Black Balls and Slime Slashes will retarget up to twice to a different target if their original target is Enchanted, same for Demon Swords and an Invisible target (unless no other targets are available).

Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)

  • 100% → Slime Hand.

Additionally, if no other foes are left, GUOYE will inflict 3x Berserk on itself at the start of its turn (this doesn't take up its action). This effect will only happen once, and takes priority over its Flee behavior.

Summon[]

GUOYE can be captured and used as a summon. It gives the active players the highest possible Accuracy buff; while generally unnecessary, this can be useful against super-evasive foes or to mitigate the downsides of gear like the Green Goliath or the Death Mask.
