"That helmet isn't made for cats! Shouldn't you be in a box or something?"
―Lance to NoLegs wearing the helmet, Epic Battle Fantasy 5

The Genji Helmet is a male hat available in Epic Battle Fantasy 3, 4 and 5. Its armor counterpart is the Genji Armor.

Description

The Genji Helmet is a traditional samurai helmet with golden details, most notably including the curved horns on its front. In EBF3 and 4, it is a red helmet with bright golden trim and a single large plate on either side of the helmet. In EBF5, it becomes brown with more subdued trim, a pair of smaller plates beneath each of the large side plates, and a golden oval adornment between its horns.

The Genji Helmet is a primarily physically-oriented hat, with good boosts to Attack and Defence. It also resists Earth in all of its appearances.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3

The Genji Helmet provides a strong boost to Defence along with a nice increase to Attack and Magic Defence, though this comes at the cost of a slight Accuracy debuff. It is second only to the Berserk-inducing Viking Helmet in the realm of Attack, making it the best tool for maximizing physical offense without losing control of Matt or Lance. However, said Attack boost is only 10%, so more defensive options may outclass it; for instance, the Soldier Helmet may be better to capitalize on its Medipack auto-skill. As with the Genji Armor, it's better suited for Matt, due to his superior physical prowess compared to Lance.

The Genji Helmet resists Earth, which will not become an immunity at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4

The Genji Helmet comes with great Attack, good Defence and a pinch of Evade, but it has no special effects. Despite its good stats, it is noticeably outclassed by other hats in the field of physical offense. The Headband has better power, the Demon Skull has overwhelmingly better stats in exchange for poor resistances and auto-Curse, and the Death Mask has even more physical power in exchange for some Accuracy. Even worse, all of these hats can be acquired around or before the Genji Helmet, with the Headband in particular being found in Ashwood Forest. Overall, the Genji Helmet is a decent hat that comes far too late to be of significant use.

The Genji Helmet resists Earth and Wind, with neither becoming an immunity at Level 5.

Normal

The Genji Helmet is a physically-oriented hat with great Attack, good Defence and a little Evade on the side. It grants Good Luck on Defend, giving its wearer a host of small bonuses.

While the Genji Helmet is very useful for a physically offensive build, the Death Mask has even more Attack power and the Necromancer's Helmet has entirely superior stats. However, it remains a useful alternative until the player learns to compensate for the penalties of its competition, such as horribly-lowered Accuracy or automatic Curse.

The Genji Helmet provides resistance against Earth and Wind, but it won't be immune to either element at Level 5.

Equip Remix

The Alt Genji Helmet has good Magic Defence and Defence on top of modest Evade; however, what makes it notable is that it applies Morale upon using Defend, opening up a Flair slot that'd normally be taken by The Alt Tr*force. This can then be used as on-Defend Morale normally would, with things like Regen effects and the Alt Pixel Glasses giving limited immortality. As such, it is very useful for tanking builds, particularly given how useful certain unique Flair effects are.

The Alt Genji Helmet resists Earth and Wind. Neither becomes an immunity at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3

The Genji Helmet is found in a chest in the Kitten Kingdom Ruins, across a chasm and beside a giant skull on the screen where Kamina, Simon, and Yoko are found. The bridge crossing the chasm is blocked by a battle that appears as a Red Clay.

Trivia

  • If NoLegs wears the Genji Helmet, it sits lopsided on his head as if it is too big for him. This also applies to his overworld sprite.
  • In EBF5, Lance's hair slightly clips through the edges of the Genji Helmet in his idle animation.
