The Giant Blue Slime is a foe in Epic Battle Fantasy 3. It is mostly found in Glacier Valley.

Appearance

The Giant Blue Slime is a large monster made of transparent cyan slime. Aside from its main body, it has three smaller blobs surrounding it, each covered in white snow. Its main body has a larger patch of snow that seems to be melting slightly, with a large chunk of blue ice and a couple of dead trees embedded in it; the roots of the largest tree are visible within its gooey mass.

Overview

Unlike its lesser counterpart, the Giant Blue Slime is an Ice-based foe instead of a Water-based one. Aside from an icy Body Slam and the Earth-based Ground Pound used by all Giant Slimes, all of its attacks are multi-target spells; it can exhale hard enough to deal minor Wind damage and a modest Magic Defence debuff, or summon Snow to hit the entire party for weak Ice damage and a chance of Freeze. It can also cast Hailstorm, which hits the entire battlefield at once; this lets it heal itself and other Ice-absorbent foes while damaging and potentially Freezing the party; fortunately, the Freeze chance is astoundingly low.

Most of the Giant Blue Slime's attacks have above-average Accuracy, so Evade-based strategies may not be very effective; on the other hand, its own Evade is on the low side. All of its attacks are fully elemental, so building resistance to Earth, Wind, and especially Ice will greatly reduce its damage output; Freeze resistance or Regen support can negate its status application. Syphon and Berserk lock it out of its magical attacks; the latter also forces it to use nothing but Body Slam, which means that high Ice resistance alone will render it near-impotent. Conveniently, the most reliable sources of Berserk - Unleash off of the Flameheart or the Red Vulcan - also hit the Slime's elemental weakness while giving Natalie or Lance resistance to Freeze.

The Giant Blue Slime massively absorbs Ice and is immune to both Wind and Water, but is very weak to Fire. It's also very susceptible to Doom, giving the party a means to ensure its demise after a few turns while they focus on other tasks.
