The Giant Slayer is considered one of Matt's best weapons, its main competitor being the [[Soul Eater]], which provides even higher Attack at the cost of large defensive penalties. It can be considered the safer choice between the two, with less power for less risk, but its lack of an elemental affinity gives it a small edge over the Dark-elemental Soul Eater in the endgame areas, which have plenty of Dark-resistant foes.

Giant Slayer
"An unwieldy spear made to fight defensive foes."
―Description, Epic Battle Fantasy 5

The Giant Slayer is a non-elemental weapon available for Matt in Epic Battle Fantasy 5.

Description

The Giant Slayer is a long, double-ended spear with a massive blade head and a smaller blade acting as the pommel. Both blades are bright silver and mounted on a secondary metal section made of darker grey metal. Two small pieces of dark grey metal adorn the brown handle of the spear.

Normal

The Giant Slayer grants the second highest Attack bonus among Matt's swords (only being bested by the Soul Eater), the ability to ignore the defensive buffs of its targets with weapon-elemental skills, and an increased chance to intimidate foes into Surrender. However, this comes at the expense of a large Accuracy penalty and a modest Evade penalty. As such, it's generally a good idea to use the Giant Slayer along with Accuracy-buffing equipment (like the Spelunking Hat or the Target Badge) to help nullify its penalties and enable Matt to make full use of its high Attack.

The Giant Slayer is a powerful weapon with a massive offense. Its main competitor is the Soul Eater, which provides even higher Attack at the cost of large defensive penalties. The Giant Slayer can be considered the safer choice between the two, though the Soul Eater's sheer power and life-draining counter may prove more useful.

The Giant Slayer resists Wind, Light, Heavy, Confuse and Stagger. All except for the Wind resistance become immunities at Level 5.

Equip Remix
