- "Hey, this isn't a magical staff! I guess I can try using it and see how it goes..."
- ―Natalie, Epic Battle Fantasy 5
The Gigavolt is a thunder-elemental staff available for Natalie in Epic Battle Fantasy 5.
Description[]
The Gigavolt is essentially a short halberd/hatchet made of electrical plasma, save for a golden grip used to grasp it and two pale gray orbs, one above and one below the axe head. Curiously, it doesn't appear to be a continuous stream of energy or material; the plasma is divided into three distinct pieces that are interrupted by the orbs and the grip.
Normal[]
The Gigavolt has decent Magic Attack, small amounts of Defence and Magic Defence, and good Accuracy and Evade; however, it's most notable for its monstrously high Attack stat. Although it's surpassed by The Knife and the Soul Crusher in this regard, its weapon-elemental skills have a decent chance to unleash Surge, which benefits from the staff's high Attack as well as its boost to Thunder skills. It also lets Natalie counter with a Normal Attack, which will always trigger Surge. It almost completely outclasses the Wrath of Zeus as a Thunder staff, apart from the latter's marginally higher Magic Attack and useful Plasma Cage unleash.
The Gigavolt arguably has the best hybrid offenses of any staff, but this is largely wasted on Natalie; she has terrible base Attack and no meaningful physical skills outside of the Gigavolt's own unleash. Regardless, it can be a useful weapon for No Man's Land and the later parts of the Iron Fortress; it's statistically superior to the Dark Tooth, and it can get a lot of mileage from its resistances and elemental damage. Its utility drops massively once the party reaches the Mystic Woods, where Thunder-weak foes are less common; fortunately, the Mystic Woods will also provide Natalie with the Kaladanda, the Beholding Eye, the Rubber Duck, and other support-focused equipment that she can use far more effectively.
The Gigavolt resists Thunder, Bomb, and Dispel, becoming immune to the latter at Level 5.
Equip Remix[]
The Alt Gigavolt has solid balanced offenses and great Accuracy. It empowers Natalie's Thunder and Bomb skills; the latter complements the staff's ability to inflict Dry with its weapon-elemental attacks. It can also let Natalie counter attacks with Thunder Storm, dealing modest damage with a small chance of Stun to the entire wave.
The Alt Gigavolt is somewhat notable as the only staff in Equip Remix to boost Bomb damage, but this is better left to other players in most situations. Although it can support Bomb and Fire-based offensives, its Dry-applying potential is hampered by Natalie's poor status infliction abilities and its lack of a weapon-elemental counter skill; to make matters worse, its auto-Thunder Storm will be weakened by Dry on top of consuming stacks from afflicted foes.
While the Alt Gigavolt doesn't have to deal with auto-Confuse like the Alt Wrath of Zeus, the power gap is wide enough that Natalie can quite possibly out-damage the Alt Gigavolt even without status-clearing support. Conversely, it's a bit stronger than the Alt Dark Tooth and gets its Thunder boost from the start, but the accessibility of the Alt Dark Tooth's additional elemental boosts make it more effective in day-to-day battles.
The Alt Gigavolt resists Thunder, Bomb, and Stun, becoming immune to the latter at Level 5.
Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]
The Gigavolt is found inside a chest in the Freezeflame Dungeon, one screen west of the entrance. The chest is blocked by some spikes, which are lowered by solving the Slip 'n' Slide puzzle.

Trivia[]
- The Gigavolt has aesthetic similarities to the Thor's Hammer and the Inferno, being made primarily of condensed energy and pearlescent orbs.
