Dark Flare hitting Armored Oak, Epic Battle Fantasy 4
Gravity Surge (known as Dark Flare before Epic Battle Fantasy 5) is a Dark-elemental skill in the Epic Battle Fantasy series. In Epic Battle Fantasy 2 and 3, it is only usable by foes; in Epic Battle Fantasy 4, it can also be learned by Matt, Natalie, or Lance. In Epic Battle Fantasy 5, it is completely reworked into being one of Lance's skills, acting as a Dark version of Flame Burst and Plasma Wave. It has undergone notable changes with each appearance.
Description[]
In EBF5, Lance fires a cluster of dark energy orbs at the enemy wave, dealing magical dark damage that lowers the magic defense of foes. In previous games, a series of dark black orbs surrounded with red outlines and pulses manifest over the target.
Dark Flare/Gravity Surge has had radically different effects in each game; see below for details.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]
Dark Flare targets one player and hits twice, dealing magical Dark damage with a high chance of cutting their defenses in half. The first hit affects Defence and the second hit affects Magic Defence. Its Accuracy is even higher than it was in EBF2.
Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]
Dark Flare is now a shared skill found inside the right tomb of Graybone Cemetery. It is in one of the four chests that fall after activating the switches. The Shadow Blaster can also unleash Dark Flare with weapon-elemental skills.
Dark Flare hits the target once and has the same accuracy as it did in EBF2. Instead of debuffing Defence and Magic Defence, it now inflicts Curse (Dispel before the v2 update) and then debuffs Magic Attack.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]
Dark Flare was renamed Gravity Surge and became the upgraded version of Dark Shot, becoming accessible at Level 3. It has normal Accuracy and hits all enemies equally for three hits of magical Dark damage and a decent chance of lowering their Magic Defence. It can also be focused on a single foe for more damage and higher infliction rate, behaving like Dark Shot.
Gravity Surge becomes Antimatter Flux at Level 5.
