The Harpoon Turret is a foe in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is frequently found in the Iron Fortress, but a few also appear in The Rapture.
Appearance[]
The Harpoon Turret is a large, boxy cannon loaded with a massive silver blade on a retractable chain. Its barrel is black with angular red markings, while the rest of its frame is silver with red accents. A bulky silver piece connects it to a pair of hinges, allowing the Harpoon Turret to rotate upwards when being deployed or retracted. It also has a pair of small antennae and several wires sticking out of its back end, presumably used for communication or power functions.
Like all Turrets in EBF5, the Harpoon Turret emerges from a panel on the ground or on the hull of a tank.
Overview[]
Like all Turrets, the Harpoon Turret is an offensive support unit with a combination of damaging skills, buffs, and debuffs. Unlike most Turrets, it uses physical attacks by stabbing players with its harpoon, hitting the entire party for non-elemental damage. One of these attacks can actually push a party member out of battle, forcing someone in backup to replace them; this can be prevented if the target has Defend or Bless status.
Apart from stabbing or shuffling the party, the Harpoon Turret has the usual array of Turret support skills to work with - Electron Gun, Lock On, and Recycle - but it can also use Bind to reduce the entire party's Evade. On higher difficulty levels, it can also Stagger players with Harpoon Hit and grant Good Luck to its allies via Lock On.
Like most EBF5 Turrets, the Harpoon Turret is weak to Ice, Bomb, and especially Thunder and Earth (although it loses the latter weakness if deployed by the Neon Valkyrie). It can also lose access to most of its disruptive skills if afflicted with Syphon or Berserk, but take note that it can still use its harpoon attacks in this state. This makes it one of the few Turrets that will not automatically Surrender when Syphoned or Berserked on its turn.
Unlike most foes in EBF5 and like other Turrets, the Harpoon Turret cannot be captured to be used as a summon. It also has a stronger version called the Giga Harpoon.

Battle Logic[]
The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.
- If Syphoned, Berserked, or catch score >55 and all players are Lovable → Harpoon Hit (1/2), Swap Players (1/2);
- Otherwise → Harpoon Hit (1/4), Swap Players (1/4);
- If for any active player
[sum of buffs - sum of debuffs] > 100%
, or for any foe[sum of debuffs - sum of buffs] > 100%
→ Recycle (1/8), Lock On (1/8);- If the selected target has at least a 10% Evade debuff → Electron Gun (1/4);
- Otherwise → Bind (1/8), Electron Gun (1/8);
- Otherwise → Lock On (1/6);
- If the selected target has at least a 10% Evade debuff → Electron Gun (1/3);
- Otherwise → Bind (1/6), Electron Gun (1/6).
- If for any active player
* Recycle always targets the best reverse target, ignoring Lovable and Target.
* Lock On will retarget to a different foe if their originally selected target has at least a 10% Accuracy buff (unless no other targets are available).
Unlike most other foes, the Harpoon Turret doesn't get a counter when Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled.
Trivia[]
- The Harpoon Turret is the only Turret to have a direct upgraded counterpart: the Giga Harpoon.
