The Heartstopper is a Thunder-elemental gun available to Lance in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is currently exclusive to the paid Steam release of the game and the outdated free Battle Demo.
Description[]
The Heartstopper is an irregularly-shaped gun made of a black material - possibly some kind of rock - with jagged golden lines running throughout. The front of the weapon is shaped like a pincer, with an orb of electricity in the middle. It has two projections along its upper surface, with another orb of electricity nestled in an alcove on the front projection. Both orbs are directly connected to the glowing lines running through the Heartstopper, which seem to be functioning as wiring or a power source. Its handle appears to be a protrusion on the bottom of the rock, with pale yellow cloth wrapped around it to improve grip,
The Heartstopper also comes with a black revolver with golden details and a grey barrel.
Normal[]
The Heartstopper powers up Thunder skills while granting strong Attack and small boosts to Magic Attack, Defence, and Magic Defence. Its weapon-elemental skills have a high chance to unleash Spark and inflict Doom; its Double Shot counter gives it more chances to apply its on-hit effects while inflicting decent damage on its own.
The Heartstopper is essentially the physical counterpart of the Thunder Core; while Lance's skillset favors magic, he still can use a decent number of physical skills (including Surge), making the weapon perfectly serviceable for a physical offensive build. However, if Lance isn't up against Thunder-weak foes, he'll usually prefer the Heavy Claw for physical builds due to its synergy with Machine Guns and Big Bullet. Pairing the gun with a source of Bad Luck can turn its on-hit Doom into Instant Death, but Anna tends to outperform it with The Deceased or the Fat Fly-equipped Alchemist's Bow due to Arrow Rain being a little easier to spam than Hyper Beam.
The Heartstopper resists Thunder, Bomb and Stun. The Stun resistance becomes an immunity at Level 5.
Equip Remix[]
The Alt Heartstopper lives up to its name by being a risky but rewarding gun that can obliterate foes...assuming it doesn't get Lance killed first. It offers average Attack and the best Magic Attack of all guns while also raising Accuracy and Evade a little bit. It has a 50% chance of inflicting Doom with weapon-elemental skills, but its relatively unimpressive Attack means that this trait is not as useful as laying magical waste to your enemies and letting someone else rain down Doom. It counters attacks with Plasma Shot, but this is a fairly trivial effect even with the gun's massive Magic Attack. Curiously, it boosts Dark skills despite being otherwise Thunder-elemental; regardless, Lance can easily exploit this with his natural skills.
However, all this comes at a serious defensive cost; not only does the Alt Heartstopper reduce Lance's HP by 25%, it will hit him with a very short Doom timer on almost every turn. It also has an enormous vulnerability to both Doom and Instant Death, so enemy attempts at instant kills will almost always succeed. Because of this, Lance is all but required to have Good Luck at all times, which turns Death into Stagger.
Overall, the Alt Heartstopper is one of Lance's best options for high-powered magical offense once the player learns how to cover its weaknesses; until then, guns like the Alt Thunder Core and the Alt Shadow Blaster provide weaker but safer alternatives. It competes with the Alt Flame Titan as the high-risk magic-focused gun; the Alt Heartstopper's main advantages are superior Evade and Accuracy (especially without the Alt Flame Titan's auto-Tired) and immunity to two elements. Its damage output is also a bit higher against foes that don't resist Dark.
The Alt Heartstopper resists Thunder and Dark, becoming immune to both at Level 5. It also has an extreme Doom and Death weakness that remains constant at all forging levels.

The Heartstopper is found inside a chest in the lava area of the Crystal Caverns, on the right side of the main island guarded by Vulcan.

Trivia[]
- The Alt Heartstopper offers the highest weakness in the entire Epic Battle Fantasy series; with a -300% weakness to Doom and Death, the player will need at least 3 pieces of resistant equipment to nullify the weakness. This degree of vulnerability is only matched by the constantly-shifting elemental weakness of the Cosmic Gigalith.
- The Heartstopper's flavor text is very similar to that of the Lightning Shard, with both being described as weapons forged by lightning striking the earth.
