Hela's Staff (also known as Death Bringer) is a Dark-elemental staff for Natalie in Epic Battle Fantasy 3 and 4.
Description[]
Hela's Staff is a black metal staff with three sturdy spikes on its head. A small, spherical "cage" made of narrow strips of metal is directly below the spiked head, and the shaft has a few small adornments along its length and another spike on the tip, giving it a slight resemblance to a wrought-iron fence post. Most notably, Hela's Staff has a white skull with curly grey horns impaled on the topmost spike of its head, with a pair of white feathers and a long red plume attached to the back of the skull.
Hela's Staff is typically a "glass cannon" staff, offering great offensive power (either directly or via Death infliction) at the cost of reduced bulk and detrimental effects to its wielder.
Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]
The Death Bringer has average Magic Attack, a minor penalty to both defenses, and a great chance to inflict Doom on a foe struck by Natalie's Normal Attack. Its Unleash has a high chance of Instant Death on its victim; it also debuffs Natalie's defenses, but this can be quickly nullified with the Guardian skill. Additionally, the staff boosts the power of the Dark Rune, giving Natalie a means to directly harm foes without resorting to status effects.
Compared to Natalie's other offensive staves, the Death Bringer works best when focusing on its Doom/Death infliction or by spamming Dark Runes. Outside of these niches, its relative fragility and lack of an elemental boost make it largely outclassed by the other staves in its Magic Attack range, to say nothing of weapons such as the Obsidian or the Crystal Staff.
The Death Bringer provides resistance to Instant Death and Doom, with the latter becoming an immunity at Level 5. It also lowers Natalie's Holy resistance, which remains constant at all forging levels.
Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]
Hela's Staff severely reduces Natalie's HP and MP, but empowers her Dark skills and grants the best Magic Attack bonus of any staff in the game (including Premium content). Its Weapon-elemental skills can Curse the target, but it has a fair chance to Curse Natalie herself between turns; this cannot be avoided with Curse resistance.
With other Magic Attack-boosting gear (like the Dark Bauble, the Dark Gown, and the Gold Star), Hela's Staff can deliver astonishing amounts of damage, especially with Dark skills and the Black Hole Limit Break. However, anything that survives to take a turn will be a great threat to Natalie's survival, even with support from her allies.
The Hela's Staff resists Dark. This does not become an immunity at Level 5.
Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]
The Death Bringer is found in Glacier Valley, inside a chest two screens south of the entrance. The chest is in the bottom-right corner of the screen, partially hidden by snow-covered trees; to reach it, the party must cross a wooden plank guarded by a battle that appears as a Shark Igloo.

Trivia[]
- The name and element of this staff presumably refer to the Norse goddess Hel, also known as Hela. She is the goddess of the dishonored dead and (to a lesser extent) assorted illnesses and ailments.
- The design of Hela's Staff is almost identical to that of the Sentinel, with the main difference being their heads.
