The Ice Idol is a foe that appears in Epic Battle Fantasy 4. It usually appears in cold areas, such as the Crystal Caverns, the cooling room of the Waste Disposal Plant, and the Ice Cave of the Temple of Godcat.
Appearance[]
The Ice Idol is a small piece of pale blue ice carved into a vaguely humanoid form and animated by magic. It has three variations:
- A rectangular Idol with one arm and a jagged, asymmetrical mouth. Two rugged spikes protrude from its head, and a large crack can be seen on the left side of its body.
- A roughly square-bodied Idol with two arms sticking straight out and a pair of small, almost ear-like horns on top of its head. It has large, asymmetrical eyes (the right one being larger and having a small "pupil") and a row of shallow parallel gouges for a mouth. Its face seems to be slightly off-center, being closer to the bottom-left corner of its body.
- An Idol with downward-sloping arms and two large horns resembling a jagged pincer or crude antlers. It has a simple face formed of two small eyes and a straight line for a mouth.
Overview[]
The Ice Idol attacks primarily by jumping at a player and slamming into the ground, or casting the basic Ice spell. Its most dangerous attack is a close-range burst of frost that deals slightly more damage and has a chance to Freeze the target — while the chance isn't too high and can easily be countered by the appropriate resistances, it's unlikely the player would have a lot of options by the time Ice Idol is first encountered.
Despite the potential to inflict an annoying status effect, the Ice Idol is barely a threat, with little HP, low damage output, and many weaknesses. Its threat can be reduced even further via Syphon or Berserk, which limit it to its basic physical attack. Furthermore, Lance will join the party just before Ice Idols are encountered, and his Flamethrower-boosted Fire skills should make short work of them.
The Ice Idol absorbs Ice and especially Water while being immune to Burn, Freeze, and Poison; however, that's the extent of its resistances. On the other hand, it is fairly weak to Wind and Thunder, significantly weak to Earth, Stun, and Tired, and severely weak to Bomb and especially Fire. Enabling "More Foe Resistance" turns its status weaknesses into resistances, also making it resistant to Bio and Wind.

Battle Logic[]
The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.
- Berserked or/and Syphoned → Jump;
- Otherwise → Jump (1/3), Frost Burst (1/3), Ice (1/3).
