- "That laser turret is ready to SHOOP DA WHOOP!"
- ―Lance, Epic Battle Fantasy 4
The Laser Turret, also known as Omega Lazor in EBF2, is a recurring foe that appeared in Epic Battle Fantasy 2, 4 and 5. It is typically found in technological areas, such as the Waste Disposal Plant or the Iron Fortress.
Appearance[]
The Laser Turret is generally a large, high-tech energy cannon mounted on a pair of metallic grey hinges emerging from a square panel on the ground/a tank. Its appearance changes from game to game.
In EBF2 and EBF4, the Laser Turret is entirely the same metallic shade of grey as its hinges, save for some red lines and a red lens on the upper protrusion of its otherwise-cylindrical body. It has an extremely long barrel separated into three sections: a conical base with a vent along the side and a long bayonet along the bottom, a thin, trapezoidal barrel, and a smaller, cylindrical barrel directly above the other. It also has some wires between different parts of its body.
In EBF5, the Laser Turret was redesigned into a smaller rectangular cannon that's taller than it is long. Instead of a barrel, its entire front side is an opening that glows yellow with radiant energy. Most of its body is black with technological-looking red markings (reminiscent of a Cosmic Monolith), but it has several metallic grey accents, including around its barrel, a large plate along its upper edge, and a small vent with antennae and wires on top of it back corner. Its hinges are sleeker than its previous appearances, with the visible bolt replaced by red indentations.
Overview[]
The Laser Turret is one of the more offensively-inclined members of the Turret family, with its pre-EBF5 appearances forgoing support abilities in favor of powerful non-elemental beam attacks; EBF5 turned it into more of a supporting foe, but it retains the potential for significant damage output. It has always been weak to Bomb, with Earth, Thunder, and Water being common vulnerabilities.
Epic Battle Fantasy 2[]
The Omega Lazor is one of the two helpers summoned by the Valkyrie Tank at the start of its second phase. It serves as a secondary attacker, bombarding Matt and Natalie with non-elemental energy balls that hit multiple times for significant damage to them both. It can also use a laser beam that deals massive damage to one player, but this requires it to charge up for a turn; if it or the Valkyrie is sufficiently damaged, the player can finish it off before it fires its laser. If this isn't an option, setting up defensive buffs and Auto-Revive is the most that can be done.
On difficulty levels above Normal, the Omega Lazor will buff the Valkyrie Tank's Attack when destroyed; the buff becomes even greater on Epic.
The Omega Lazor is resistant to Fire and Poison damage, with a smaller resistance to Earth. It is completely immune to the Poison, Syphon, and Blind status effects, and greatly resists Stun, Dispel, and all stat debuffs. On the other hand, it is weak to Bomb and especially Thunder, and half of the damage it suffers will also be inflicted on the Valkyrie Tank.
Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]
The Laser Turret is an irritating foe that specializes in dealing non-elemental magic damage. Its basic attack is fairly weak, but hits the entire party multiple times and has a chance to mildly debuff their Accuracy. It can also Charge itself in order to use a powerful single-target laser.
The Laser Turret is more manageable to fight than its EBF2 counterpart. While it resists Stun, Freeze, Syphon, and Death, any of these status effects will render it completely helpless and effectively remove it from battle. It also has pitifully low Evade, guaranteeing any attack will hit.
In addition to its previously-mentioned status resistances, the Laser Turret is immune to Wind, Poison (both the element and the status), Burn, and Stagger. Conversely, it is weak to Earth and Water and severely weak to Thunder and Bomb.
Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]
The Laser Turret's role was redesigned to match its new look; while it still has fair damage output (hampered by a weak Magic Attack stat), it instead specializes in using a variety of secondary effects. It mainly uses Thunder-based magic attacks with high chances of Disable, Confuse, or Stun, but it also has a multi-target Holy laser that can inflict Weaken. Like most Turrets, it can also support allies with Lock On or invert buffs and debuffs with Recycle.
The Laser Turret can also be spawned by the Neon Valkyrie if its initial Cannon Turret is destroyed. In this case, it loses its Earth weakness and its base Magic Attack is doubled; its Status Ray also inflicts Dry instead of Weaken, which both Lance and the Neon Valkyrie can exploit.
Fortunately, the Laser Turret has a critical weakness in Syphon, which renders it completely helpless and forces it to Surrender on its next turn. It has no resistance to this and has poor Evade, making it easily dispatched.
On higher difficulties, the Laser Turret's Status Ray gains a chance to slightly lower the party's Accuracy, its Laser Shot becomes stronger and hits more times, and the Stun chance on Plasma Cage becomes much higher.
The Laser Turret is immune to Wind, Bio, Poison, Virus, Stagger, and Confuse, but it has significant weaknesses to Bomb, Water, and especially Dark. It is also severely weak to Earth expect on Neon Valkyrie, in which case it is neutral to it. If "More Foe Resistance" is enabled, it absorbs Dark and becomes immune to both Fire and Water; it also becomes resistant to Earth if deployed by the Neon Valkyrie, making it only be weak to Bomb.
Unlike most foes in EBF5, but like other Turrets, the Laser Turret cannot be captured or used as a summon.

Battle Logic[]
The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.
Epic Battle Fantasy 2[]
- Charged → SHOOP DA WHOOP;
- Otherwise → Energy Ball (2/3), Charge (1/3).
Additionally, if playing on Hard or higher difficulties, the Omega Lazor will use its Buff on the Valkyrie when it's defeated.
Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]
- Syphoned → Nothing;
- Charged → SHOOP DA WHOOP;
- Otherwise → Energy Ball (1/2), Charge (1/2).
Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]
- If Syphoned → Surrender;
- If catch score >55 and all players are Lovable → Status Ray;
- If Berserked → Laser Shot (1/2), Status Ray (1/2);
- If for any active player
[sum of buffs - sum of debuffs] > 100%
, or for any foe[sum of debuffs - sum of buffs] > 100%
→ Laser Shot (2/8), Status Ray (2/8), Recycle (1/8), Lock On (1/8), Plasma Cage (1/8), Electron Gun (1/8); - Otherwise → Laser Shot (3/12), Status Ray (3/12), Lock On (2/12), Plasma Cage (2/12), Electron Gun (2/12).
* Recycle targets the best reverse target.
* If Lock On's selected target already has at least a 10% Accuracy buff, it retargets to a different foe, unless no other foes are alive (unless no other targets are available).
Unlike most other foes, the Laser Turret doesn't get a counter when Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled.
Trivia[]
- The Laser Turret's "SHOOP DA WHOOP" attack is a reference to the Shoop Da Whoop/I'm A Firin' Mah Lazer meme where something suddenly or unexpectedly shoots a giant laser. Lance comments on this in EBF4 the first time a Laser Turret charges up.
