The Leaf Shield is a Earth-elemental cat toy available for NoLegs in Epic Battle Fantasy 5.
Description[]
The Leaf Shield is a thin slice of a log held like a buckler, accompanied by a stick for a weapon. Both items are made of brown wood, with green leaves sticking out of them and some small round notches where twigs were cut off. If equipped while NoLegs wears the Explorer's Jacket, the Dragon Armor, or the Turtle Gi, the leaves turn orange.

The Leaf Shield is a purely defensive weapon that cripples Attack without boosting Magic Attack, limiting NoLegs's offensive capabilities. However, it also grants huge boosts to Defence and Magic Defence, as well as good increases to HP and Evade; coupled with its ability to occasionally grant Regen between turns, NoLegs will be able readily take hits and heal them off without compromising his best defensive stat like the Riot Shield would. It also boosts healing skills and has a fair chance to summon a Wooden Idol between turns, granting a few stacks of Bless to the entire party.
Although the Leaf Shield has a fair claim to being NoLegs's bulkiest cat toy, he generally prefers the Neon Lightbulb for defensive builds - it gives him overwhelming Evade that better prolongs Target status (which degrades on hit). Additionally, the Dog Sausage and the Icecream Sandwich tend to be superior support weapons, thanks to their buff boosts.
The Leaf Shield resists Bio, Water and Earth. None of these become an immunity at Level 5.
Equip Remix[]
The Alt Leaf Shield might be made of wood, but it makes NoLegs as durable (and passive) as a steel wall. It has outstanding HP, Defence and Magic Defence, compensating for NoLegs's natural squishiness. It can also summon a Wise Mirror, a Stumpy Gloop, or a Green Bush, enabling it to passively grant Bless and Morale to the party while slightly lowering enemy Attack between turns. Unfortunately, it also cuts both Attack and Magic Attack in half, forcing NoLegs into a support role; since it does not boost items or buffs, he'll rely heavily on its summons and status effects (such as its on-hit Tired) to do anything.
The Alt Leaf Shield faces competition from the Alt Honjo Masamune and the Alt Turtle Shell, and not just because they have functional offensive stats to work with. The former's ludicrous Evade arguably makes it the best defensive weapon for NoLegs, despite its huge HP penalty; the latter offers four times as much HP and auto-Defend in exchange for weaker defenses and crippled Evade. Other cat toys (like the Alt Elven Shield) boost the power of buff skills and Food, but NoLegs's buff builds are generally overshadowed by Matt and the Alt Dragon's Feather.
The Alt Leaf Shield resists Bio, Dark and Earth, with none of them becoming an immunity at Level 5.

The Leaf Shield is found inside the bottom-most chest in the right wing of the Grand Gallery; a Golden Key will be required to unlock the golden block barring the way.
