The Lime Squid is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is mostly found along the Rainbow River and its surrounding areas.
Appearance[]
The Lime Squid has the basic body plan of a Squid: many arms used as "feet," two mildly unnerving eyes flanking a tubular mouth, two long tentacles, and a generally pear-shaped mantle. However, its mantle is longer and pointier than the other Squids, topped with a ragged orange-yellow fin; a pair of smaller green fins are visible near the base of its mantle. As the name suggests, it is lime in color, with peach-colored suckers and bright orange irises. Its tentacles end in sharp bone spikes (somehow, despite being an invertebrate.)
Overview[]
Despite being an aquatic creature, the Lime Squid has a Thunder affinity, allowing it to cast Big Spark and electrify its tentacles for a part-elemental attack that can sometimes Disable the target's skills. It also has Water, Dark, and non-elemental options, some of which enable it to inflict Shroud, Wet, and Invisible. Ink Blob also cripples the target's Accuracy, while Bubble Blast has a small Evade debuff in addition to Wet. Like all Squids, it may inflict Stuffed on the party when killed; this can be prevented by capturing it or letting it flee.
On harder difficulties, the Lime Squid gets a boosted status chance on Electric Tentacles and its on-death Stuffing attack, while Smoke Puffs gains an additional Shroud stack. It also gains the ability to cast Sea Bomb, dealing significant magical Bomb damage with a good Dispel chance; fortunately, this only hits one player.
The Lime Squid may catch players off-guard, as it is typically found with enemies that favor Water and are weak to Thunder. Its Evade is a little lower than average, but its great resistance to Accuracy debuffs (after the v2 update) makes it tougher to dodge its attacks. Breaking off its arms with a powerful attack can disable its tentacle jabs and allow the party to focus more on magical defenses, but it can still cast the physical Big Spark even without its arms. On the other hand, inflicting Syphon or Berserk on an armless Lime Squid will cause it to Surrender on its next turn.
Aside from absorbing both Water and Thunder (as well as resisting Wind), the Lime Squid shares Ice and Earth elemental weaknesses with the other Squids, and also has the common weakness to Bio found in animal-type enemies, giving the player multiple options to defeat it. On the other hand, its status as a high-tier foe makes it quite resistant to Doom and Instant Death and even more resistant to Stun, Chill, and Freeze.
With "More Foe Resistance" enabled, the Lime Squid becomes immune to Wind, neutral to Ice, and almost completely immune to Doom and Instant Death. Its Earth weakness is greatly lessened, and it becomes fairly resistant to having its offenses and defenses debuffed.
Lime Squids are notable as the only foe to drop Grapes, although the 2% drop rate makes farming inadvisable. On the other hand, they're second only to the Big Sand Slime for efficient Cactus farming, and they have the best Sapphire drop rate among non-boss foes.

Additionally, the Squid will use Stuff when it's killed.
Summon[]
The Lime Squid can be captured to be used as a summon; in Equip Remix, it can also be called between turns by Alt Thor's Hammer. When summoned, it uses two physical attacks in succession: an effectless non-elemental Tentacle Hit followed by a modified version of Electric Tentacles (which is purely Thunder-based and has a high Stun chance). Both attacks have above-average Accuracy.
