Hey! My name is Atvelonis, and I'm the Fandom Wiki Manager for the Epic Battle Fantasy Wiki as well as an admin on Elder Scrolls. I'm here to help you and the wider community, and act as a liaison between you and Fandom Staff. If you ever have any questions or issues related to the wiki, its features (editing, templates, bots, etc.), or whatever else, feel free to reach out to me on my message wall or on Discord (Atvelonis#9495) and I can help out! —Atvelonis (talk) 16:29, May 6, 2019 (UTC)
Hello! I am a sort of but not quite regular of the EBF wiki. I haven't been here in a while and so I'm wondering if we ever decided on how to deal with the skill pages. I've made a few assumptions but in retrospect they are relatively unfounded (citing indiviudal instances instead of a general situation). It does seem that there are a few cases of the EBF5 version being grouped onto the lowest level, with the pre-EBF5 being on their current pages. Is that in line with what is planned? I know that you may well know nothing about this, but you seem most likely to know about it as the Admin.
This is not of particular importance (especially as I prefer to work on descriptions instead of filling out information on stats), but I am curious about it.
We're starting (had for quite some time) to have some (a lot) of problems in the EBF5-related pages, more especially in the Steam exclusive content
This concerns the user WTF-8
I'll be honest, it won't be short, as I need to say I lot for you to properly assess and understand the situation.
He DIDN'T EVEN BUY THE GAME, only basing his edits from the 0.16 beta, both because, and I cite him: "It's money he doesn't have (15$ come on)"(1) and because he cracked the beta and can look at things from the inside (code).(2)
Problem is: HE TREATS ANYTHING HE CAN'T SEE AS VANDALISM, spamming "vandalism" and "troll" left and right
The problem gets even more obvious when you think about the fact the paid (OFFICIAL) version has content that the beta hasn't and sadly, HE STILL EDITS THEM, not in the sense of adding information, but DELETING ANYTHING NEW.
He started stirring up a lot of trouble recently, and something about it has to be done
(1) - Oh, that one's gonna be long to explain. It started with Alpha Sentry telling me to join a Discord server dedicated to the Wiki of EBF. Later on, WTF-8 (which was in it) pinged me and asked me to prove an information I added. I then managed to question him about why he kept deleting anything that wasn't in the 0.16 beta, and progressively got more and more answers about all… this…
At the end of the conversation (which, at that point, was pretty much just me ranting about how much nonsense his goals were), I left the Discord server out of frustration, without thinking about taking a screenshot of the conversation to prove that I wasn't kidding (I informed (am trying to) a few others about it, since WTF-8 is leaving them agape with no clue of what's with him)
If you want proof, you could ask Alpha Sentry to get a screenshot of the conversation (he's the owner of that Discord server), problem is I don't know what his position is in this (on WTF-8's side or not). If REALLY needed, it would be possible to ask Matt himself, as I clearly remember seeing him as a member of that Discord server, but it would be best to not have to resort disturbing him.
(2) - from searching through his wall and profile, seeing that he clearly has access to hidden information
I'm sorry if I'm taking some of your time here, but I actively searched about it, and there is really nothing a mere user can do against another, even if I was to gather support.
Thanks for your concern; however, first I would ask of you to stop screaming, try to be a touch bit less offensive, and cease any edit wars that you have started with WTF-8 (I know you are annoyed, but you just can't do that).
As for the discussion on Discord, I am on that server and I have read it, I even tried to talk about the fact that WTF-8 shouldn't prevent others from trying to provide information, though I didn't noticed at the time that you have left the server, and it is a shame you did as couldn't have seen that nor discuss it further.
"I'm sorry if I'm taking some of your time here, but I actively searched about it, and there is really nothing a mere user can do against another, even if I was to gather support. " - Welp, one is to contact an admin to try to resolve the issue, which you did... now :P Though you should have not start an edit war right after, even though my reply took a few hours.
Charliergdt, I would advice to try to make a better use of edit summaries so perhaps we could have had avoided some miscommunication, as just removing those version notice without saying anything nor changing anything does look weird.
I hope we might all come to a proper resolution, for now I shall remove some of the comments/messages here that I see as a unnecessary escalation of conflict.
Sorry, but... so what? What does it have to do with Dry NoLegs? The answer probably is "nothing".
But regardless, as for the missing song, "Sleepless Midnight" can still be found on Phyrnna's Bandcamp in the "Verion" album, so I guess it is just some usual derpy stuff from Apple's side, as they got an unhealthy tendency to remove stuff behind the user's back.
...Anyway, I didn't want to call you out on it, but since you actually wrote to me yourself. It was quite obvious the moment you registered, that it is just a multi-account of "Baxxamios". That is, an account that got blocked. Making another account to bypass a block may simply result in having both accounts blocked for extended period (Baxxamios is blocked just for one month). Especially, since you didn't make this account in order to contact me and appeal a block, but only to "silently" bypass the block, although in a quite shameless manner, as you don't even attempt to hide with it.
I've been watching you guys go at it from almost the beginning of this, and it's blatantly obvious that Jasza is doing what he's supposed to. He kind of IS being on the nice side for this. Other admins probably would be more harsh with this kind of thing. Baxx, you're the reason that people don't use wikis because they think it's not credible. Don't put information on ANY wiki unless you are, to a degree, sure that it is credible. If someone says something about it, saying that your information isn't credible, that's fine, only as long as you accept that it will be removed and you learn your lesson, and that person who called you out replaces it with credible information (Or just deletes it and cleans the page up).
Just so both of you guys know, I'm not going to respond to anything negative I get from this. We already have a mini flame war over here, this is my only contributation to try to stop it.
I am really sorry if it does look like a "mini flame war" for other users. As that would probably be quite discouraging for them. And shameful for me as an admin.
I would rather just have a conversation with Baxx/Omni, as to make sure we achieve an understanding, instead of outright blocking him. Though sadly he doesn't seem to care for that. But I think he does at least acknowledge the message, so it still quite good.
I'm working on a prototype map using Wikia's Map extension. Having admin rights on that page definitely helped. For now it's only having a few tags on some tiles with no interesting info, but you are free to take a look
First thing, I'm aware that my messages are taking up most you your wall, and that isn't going to end very soon.
Anyway, I've uploaded my EBF4 save file for the main purpose of helping other people to fill up foe info (lvl50 epic). This should allow us to finish enemy pages easier, since you don't have to grind through 3 playthroughs only to get to lvl51 anymore. This file will also allow you to have a glimpse into my insane world, where Natalie is never used and Ancient Monolith is better than Cat Fort. Check my profile page for the link.
Yep it's happening. I'm now so busy, I failed to edit the wiki within a week. I have already told you about this earlier, and now it's time for me to say good bye.
For how I managed to get the game assets: First, you will need to acquire a swf copy of the game. I won't provide to you right now, since this might be illegal, especially if you want to get the expansion-unlocked EBF4 file, so you will have to do it yourself. You could use the Kong's "Games for Your Site" and then look at the embed code to find the external link (example: http://external.kongregate-games.com/gamez/0013/3024/live/embeddable_133024.swf for AS), then download the file with something.
The second thing you will need is a "swf extractor" (google it), which will allow you to dig through the file to get the game assets. They are divided into shapes (scalable vector graphic), sprites (compiled shapes) and other stuffs that you will never need to look. Most of the icons are shapes that could be easily converted into png to upload, since svg might have some display issue, and sprites can be extracted using the good old PrintScreen + editing or using a spritesheet creator (google it), which never worked for me. Bear in mind, this isn't a professional tool, and I haven't been able to dig much further because of my crap understanding of technological stuff, but this should allow you to extract most of the images. There are also lots of this type of program, so you will need to pirate them and test out (this is also illegal).
The final thing you will need is an image editor. I will assume that GIMP does the job well, since I couldn't get it to install because of the crap computer. If it can edit and convert svg, it's good for the job.
With that out of the way, it's time to say my goodbye. I hope I can return in about 5 or 6 months, but if I don't, you will be the one to decide the fate of the walkthrough.
Oh, thanks for the guide, I will try to make use of that in near future, that will sure be helpful.
About inactivity and such. Don't worry, you may come back here whenever you want. I guess in-real-life stuff are quite more important than the internet, so don't blame yourself for "quitting" for some time (come on, "failed to edit"? That is too harsh).
Good Luck and Have Fun, whatever you will be doing.
