The Metal Gear is a crafting item in Epic Battle Fantasy 3 and 5. It is a metal cog with eight square teeth, used for forging mostly electronic equipment or metal contraptions.
In EBF3, Metal Gears are a dark, copper-like shade of brown. They can be bought in The Town for 560 gold, and 60 will be needed to upgrade everything. A third of that amount will be used on the Shadow Blaster.
In EBF5, the Metal Gear was redesigned with a tan coloration and a smaller hole in the middle. It can be bought in Greenwood Village, Mystic Woods, The Great Sea and Redpine Town for 2,300 gold; 83 are needed for the relevant upgrades, with the Pocket Watch requiring a particularly large amount.
