The Metal Idol is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is mainly found in the Iron Fortress.
Appearance[]
Metal Idols are pieces of scrap metal which have transformed into tiny magical golems; whether this was intentional or not is ambiguous. Their body is primarily silver, with dark grey metal details. They have rectangular mouths and large black holes for eyes with tiny white pupils; combined with their energetic movements, they give the impression of being perpetually surprised or terrified.
Metal Idol variants include:
- A rectangular Idol that's wider than it is tall, with a screw in each corner of its body. It has short, wide "legs" and another, smaller silver plate forming its backside. Its mouth has small, dark grey slats for "teeth". It is the only Metal Idol variant with full bilateral symmetry.
- A rectangular Idol that's taller than it is wide, with a screw in each of its upper corners. Its right eye is larger than its left, and its "mouth" is a rectangular hole in its right side. It has stubby "arms" formed from a piece of dark grey metal, as well as three metal poles running through its body; two protrude from its lower edge to act like thin legs.
- A triangular Idol with square "legs", a single eye, and sharp white teeth in its mouth. A screw is embedded in its topmost and bottom-left corners, with their ends protruding from the second metal plate serving as the Idol's back.
Overview[]
The Metal Idol is more of an annoyance than a true threat. It has two physical attacks with a mild Earth element, as well as a non-elemental magic attack that has a decent chance to inflict Disable; while the status isn't very strong, it can prove to be a mild annoyance. On higher difficulty levels, the Disable chance becomes significantly higher and one of its physical attacks gains a small Stagger chance, slightly improving its ability to support its stronger allies.
Like most Idols, the Metal Idol is a low-priority target that can be picked off with multi-target attacks while the party focuses on stronger foes. Despite slightly above-average Evade, it's not especially difficult to kill, especially if its weaknesses are exploited by skills such as Water Whirl, Aqua Volley, or Bullet Hell.
The Metal Idol resists Bio while being weak to Fire and especially Water; it also has a massive Stagger vulnerability. With "More Foe Resistance" enabled, it gains a Thunder absorption and becomes immune to Bio, Water, and Bomb.
