The Obsidian Armor is a female armor found in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. To some extent, the Drill Bits can be considered its headgear counterpart.

Description[]

The Obsidian Armor is a metallic black armor with red/orange details, mostly trim along the edges of the individual armor pieces. Natalie's version has an additional colored stripe along the neckline, as well as a triangular cutout to expose her cleavage.

If the "Cleavage" option is disabled, the wearer of the Obsidian Armor has her arms and chest covered by what appears to be black spandex.

Normal[]

The Obsidian Armor gives a massive boost to the wearer's Defence and a good amount of Magic Defence, but this comes at the cost of a significant Evade penalty. Aside from a boost to Fire skills, its special effects revolve around the Brave status effect; between turns, it can give the status to the wearer or summon a Roasted Gloop to grant the status to the whole party.

The Obsidian Armor fills a similar niche as the Breastplate from earlier games: a piece of female armor with hefty bulk in exchange for Evade. Its stats are nearly identical to the EBF4 Breastplate, minus the HP bonus and elemental weaknesses. Either girl can make good use of it, but it's a slightly better fit for Natalie; she appreciates having her weak Defence shored up, has more options to exploit the Fire boost, and doesn't mind the Evade penalty as much as Anna.

The Obsidian Armor resists Fire, Burn and Scorch, with all but the first becoming an immunity at Level 5.

Equip Remix[]

The Alt Obsidian Armor has impressive Magic Defence and average Defence, along with slight increases to Attack, HP, and Magic Attack. It amplifies the wearer's Fire and Dark skills - which is more useful for Natalie than Anna - while allowing her to greatly buff her Defence by Defending herself.

The Alt Obsidian Armor resists Fire, Water, and Thunder, becoming immune to none of them at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]

The Obsidian Armor is found inside a chest on the right side of the 40 Medals Room in the Grand Gallery. The chest is guarded by a battle that appears as a Topaz Ore.
