"You are confronted by a group of robots. You know not to trust robots. Do you tell them how you really feel?"
―Opening narration

ROBO is a miniboss and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5 introduced in the v2 update. It is found in a secret room right next to the Iron Fortress's main entrance, which becomes accessible once the Axe is obtained.

Appearance[]

ROBO is a grey robot with red eyes rendered in an 8-bit style. It appears to have a skull for a face and four wheels, two red eyes, and its arms are tipped with red prongs which apparently act as tasers.

ROBO's arcade room is located within a crevice outside Lance's Iron Fortress and is one of two that features NPCs. The two occupants (Kiev and his son) have taken refugee due to the presence of an impending apocalypse (his son complaining that he hates his new home because rats ate his shoes) much to Lance's displeasure. The makeshift base also appears to have housed other unwanted guests, with an infestation consisting of Flybots, a Creep, and a Squid.

Overview[]

At first glance, ROBO's HP seems to be quite low, but its base defences are very high, having 10 times as much defence as the average foe, meaning their actual HP is roughly 10 times higher than it seems. Their base offenses are low (half the average), but their attacks all have high power, and as stated by its bestiary description, are very accurate and have extremely high critical chances.

ROBO has 3 attacks it picks at random, all of which are single target. They have a very accurate magic Thunder attack with a very high chance to Confuse the victim for 3 turns, and debuff their Defence by 20%, a moderately accurate physical Bomb attack that hits the player with the highest buffs (ignoring Lovable and Target) in an attempt to Dispel them, and a 7-hit physical Thunder attack with slightly above average accuracy that inflicts Stun for 2 turns, increased to a whopping 5 turns on higher difficulties. The latter two attacks also have an impressively high critical chance of 200%, making them guaranteed to land a double critical hit, which will double the damage they deal if the target doesn't have Brave. If ROBO is Syphoned or Berserked, they become locked to one move; if they're Berserked they'll only use Robo Explosion, if they're Syphoned they're locked to using Electrocute, which will additionally stop at the 2nd hit.

ROBO is immune to Bio and Wind, resists Fire and Ice, and is equally weak to Thunder, Bomb and Water. They also resist quite a few statuses; they're immune to Stun, Tired, Weaken, Doom and Instant Death, extremely resistant to Chill, Freeze and Syphon, and moderately resistant to Dispel. They also heavily resist Attack and Defence debuffs, and are slightly resistant to all other stat debuffs, excluding HP. With the "More Foe Resistance" challenge enabled, ROBO additionally absorbs Holy, their Thunder weakness becomes an absorption, their resistances to Syphon and Dispel become an immunity, and their resistance to Accuracy and Evade debuffs increases.

After level 22, ROBO gains a 5% boost to Attack and Magic Attack, and a 2.5% boost to HP and Accuracy on every level-up (these boosts stack additively, acting as a multiplier). This boost caps out at level 36.

Battle Logic[]

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

Action

  • If catch score >55 and all players are Lovable → Nothing*;
  • If Syphoned → Electrocute;
  • If Berserked → Robo Explosion;
  • Otherwise → Robo Explosion (1/3), Slam (1/3), Electrocute (1/3).

* "Nothing" also gives ROBO 2x Berserk.

* Slam always targets the best Dispel target based on player buffs, ignoring Lovable and Target.

Additionally, ROBO will retarget to a different player if their originally selected target is Confused or Stunned (unless no other targets are available).

Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)

  • 25% and not Syphoned → Robo Explosion.

Summon[]

ROBO can be captured to be used as a summon; it can also be called between turns by the Alt Power Paw. It uses Robo Explosion to hit a single foe for decent magical Thunder damage, also having a high chance to inflict Stun and an extreme Accuracy debuff.
