Razorwind

The Razorwind is an Ice-elemental staff available for Natalie in Epic Battle Fantasy 4.

Description

The Razorwind appears to be made entirely of pale blue ice, giving it a slightly rugged appearance. Its head is formed by a mass of irregular ice crystals arranged in a crescent formation resembling a backwards "C" shape. The base of the staff is irregularly shaped, and is divided into three small sections.

The Razorwind is a fairly standard offensive staff with an average Magic Attack boost, although it also provides a notable amount of MP and Evade. In addition to powering up Ice skills, its weapon-elemental attacks have a small chance to Freeze targets and a good chance to unleash Iceshard. While this can theoretically set up Freeze combos for the party, neither the staff nor its unleash have enough infliction chance to be reliable sources of Freeze; worse yet, any Freeze the staff does inflict will be immediately wasted if Iceshard triggers (although this will give it some extra damage).

Ultimately, the Razorwind's small Freeze chance is an incidental and unreliable benefit compared to its damage output with Natalie's Ice magic; if the player wants to inflict Freeze, they are better off using Frost Arrow. Outside of situations where Ice damage or its elemental resistances are specifically required, it's outclassed by "generalist" staves with higher Magic Attack instead of an elemental boost; the Crystal Staff, the Shooting Star, and (if the player's feeling risky) the Hela's Staff.

The Razorwind resists Ice, Wind, and Water. It doesn't become immune to any of them at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4

Found in the Crystal Caverns, in the top-right chest on the screen with a tent. The chest is blocked by a battle that appears as a Frost Sprite.
