The Ruby Ore is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is a member of the Ores enemy group. They are largely found in The Rapture.

Appearance

Ruby Ore resembles a hybrid of the two Fire Bit sprites; black body with red crystals protruding from assorted points. It distinguishes itself from its Bitier brethren by its two small eyes that glow like a furnace.

Overview

Ruby Ore is the new Fire Bit, and basically acts the same way. It can ram into a character and deal some minor non-elemental damage if the standard strategy is blocked/ineffective, but most of the time it will just commit honorable explosions and deal some Fire damage, Burning the target and killing itself in the process. The player will still receive loot if the Ruby Ore kills itself.

Ruby Ore has several elemental resistances, including Fire absorption, but also several elemental weaknesses and a small health pool, and thus is easily dispatched. Still, take caution when there are several of them and you don't have Fire resistance.

Battle logic

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

  • If catch score >55 and all players are Lovable → Surrender;
  • If Syphoned or Berserked → Bash;
  • Otherwise → Fire Crystals (1/2), Flame Blast (1/2).

* On Hard/Epic, Fire Crystals and Flame Blast have up to a 70% chance to be replaced by Bash depending on player party Fire resistance.

Summon

The foe can be captured to be used as a summon. It is effectively a stronger version of the Fire Crystals attack.
