The Santa Hat is a male hat available in Epic Battle Fantasy 4 and 5. It is a seasonal item that is only available during Christmas. Its armor counterpart is the Santa Outfit.

Description

The Santa Hat appears as a red knit cap with a thick white trim around the base and a white pom-pom ball on the tip. It is similar in design to the hat that Santa Claus is usually depicted in, but upright instead of floppy.

In EBF5, the Santa Hat gained a longer, floppier tip and a lighter red color scheme. It also has two Christmas lights draped around the back of trim, connected by a black wire. The lights periodically flash on and off, with red, green, and blue being possible colors. When worn by NoLegs, his ears poke out above the trim.

The Santa Hat is a bulk-focused hat with decent defenses and a small HP bonus. Its resistances include Ice and Freeze, and it sometimes has a chance to cast a winter-themed skill between turns.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4

The Santa Hat has a very small HP bonus and average boosts to Defence and Magic Defence. It can cast Ice Spike between turns, which can instantly kill the target, but the chance isn't especially high and it's a very weak skill otherwise.

Ultimately, the Santa Hat is incredibly insignificant unless the player specifically needs its resistances; notably, it's the only Ice-resistant male hat besides the Berserk-inducing Viking Helmet. While somewhat useful if it is purchased in Greenwood Village before the party enters the Crystal Caverns, it is completely outclassed later on by many other hats; for just one example, the Puppy Hat trades Ice Spike and the elemental resistance for superior stats, a Friend Dog auto-summon, and Dispel immunity.

The Santa Hat resists Ice and Freeze, with the latter becoming an immunity at Level 5.

Normal

The Santa Hat's defenses are average at best, but it also has a little HP and Magic Attack. It is noteworthy for increasing the power of healing and buff items, which can be useful when combined with Cloudberries or stat-buffing drinks. The hat also tends to cast Surprise Present between turns, which deals some magical Bomb damage and inflicts Bad Luck.

The Santa Hat's stats can work for a bulky offensive Lance build, with its Food boost giving him options to support the party on turns where he needs to wait out his cooldowns - however, players may prefer the likes of the Necromancer's Helmet or Puppy Hat for their superior Magic Attack. It can also be used for a healer build against Natalia, with its boosted items and Holy resistance helping to mitigate the effects of her "RIP" gimmick.

The Santa Hat resists Ice, Holy, Chill, and Freeze, with the latter two becoming fully negated at Level 5.

Equip Remix

With a mild HP increase and good boosts for Defence and Magic Defence, the Alt Santa Hat has acceptable bulk; however, it's more notable for its useful effects. It improves the power of Food and buff skills, while also increasing the chance of capturing foes. These effects make the Alt Santa Hat fairly versatile, although the Alt Army Helmet offers similar support effects; the Alt Santa Hat's main advantage is its superior bulk and Freeze immunity. Its capturing boost is usually fairly incidental, but can be helpful for tougher captures or neutralizing foes with on-death "attacks", like Fishes or Mammoths.

The Alt Santa Hat resists Ice, Chill, and Freeze, becoming immune to the latter two at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4

The Santa Hat can be purchased for 300 gold in any equipment shop if your computer's calendar is set to December.

The Santa Hat can be bought for 300 gold in any equipment shop during the Christmas season (December 1-January 7), e.g. Hope Harbor, Greenwood Village or Redpine Town.
