Matt, Lance, and NoLegs wearing the Shell Armor in EBF5

The Shell Armor is a male armor available in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It has no hat counterpart, although it changes the color of the Knight's Helmet, Spartan Helmet, and Horned Helmet to match itself.

Description[]

The Shell Armor is a suit of golden armor with black cloth sleeves and pants. The armored plates are decorated with red lines near the edges; the cuirass and cuffs have an additional vertical line connected to a circle in the middle. The armor also has a brown section near the waist (matching the color of its shoes), with a short, red-trimmed black sash dangling from it.

Matt's version of the Shell Armor has an additional pair of long black tassels dangling from the back, each tipped with a red stripe. NoLegs wears a simplified version of the armor, resembling the upper part of the cuirass with red-trimmed black cloth covering the rest of his body.

Normal[]

The Shell Armor gives a sizable boost to Defence and Magic Defence, as well as a minor boost to Magic Attack. It powers up Holy attacks, but its most notable trait is its ability to make its wearer Enchanted when he Defends himself; this negates all magical damage he takes while doubling physical damage.

When used in conjunction with the Target Badge or the Agnry Faic, the Shell Armor can be an effective component of a Target Tank build against magic-using foes. Its elemental boost is somewhat wasted on it, since it doesn't have an Attack bonus and the main Holy spell accessible to its wearers is the weak Purging Flame; however, it's still slightly better than the Priest's Tunic in this regard.

The Shell Armor resists Holy and Dispel, becoming immune to both at Level 5.

Equip Remix[]

With a little HP and incredible Defence and Magic Defence, the Alt Shell Armor makes its wearer incredibly durable; however, it also applies small penalties to Attack and Magic Attack. Its defensive applications are enhanced by its boost to healing skills and its ability to rarely summon an Ancient Monolith between turns, granting Defend status to the entire active party.

The Alt Shell Armor works surprisingly well in a healer build for NoLegs when paired with the Alt Godly Book. Since the latter can only use its Heal More counter if NoLegs is actually hit, the Alt Shell Armor provides additional bulk (especially if its auto-summon triggers) and a second healing boost.

The Alt Shell Armor is resistant to Bio, Holy, Doom, and Instant Death. The latter two become a full immunity at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]

The Shell Armor is found inside a chest in the lowest level of the Deathly Hollows, becoming accessible after defeating Telperion.

Trivia[]

  • The Shell Armor's name and description as a magic-resistant armor may be a subtle reference to the recurring spell of the same name from the Final Fantasy series. Notably, the on-Defend effect of the normal Shell Armor is similar to Shell's effect in Final Fantasy II (its debut appearance), where it increased the chances of the target being completely unaffected by enemy magic.
