Shredder is a non-elemental special skill available for Matt, Lance, and Anna in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. Unlike its predecessor, Triple Sawblades, it hits all targets.
Description[]
On casting, a flurry of sawblades (one for each target) falls down from the sky. They dig into the ground and run towards their target, slashing at them. This deals non-elemental physical damage, disregards defensive buffs, and has a decent chance of inflicting Instant Death on all foes.
While it lacks the power and the elemental advantages of skills like Aqua Volley or Eruption, Shredder still has good power for a multi-target skill and is great for quickly eliminating weaker foes. When used by a player with Good Luck and three pieces of status-boosting equipment, its Instant Death chance rises to about 100% allowing it to wipe out hordes of foes without immunity to the status. As with most status builds, it pairs well with Firecrackers support, which gives the user Good Luck on top of afflicting enemies with Bad Luck to further worsen their odds of survival.
Even without its Death infliction, Shredder is a decently powerful multi-target option that can't be resisted. Its ability to ignore defensive buffs lets it deal reliable damage to all foes, although removing the buffs is more effective unless the foe is severely weakened already. Another use for Shredder is to treat it like an additional instance of Slicing Cyclone or Arrow Rain, allowing the user to have constant access to multi-target attacks.
