The Shuriken is a recurring item in the Epic Battle Fantasy series. It is a metal throwing star with eight points (four thin ones and four broad ones), designed after real world shurikens. It has appeared in every main game except the original, and its main purpose has always been to be thrown in battle, dealing physical part-elemental damage to a single foe with a chance to Poison them.
In Epic Battle Fantasy 3, 4 and 5, Shurikens are also used as a crafting item to upgrade ninja-themed equipment.

Epic Battle Fantasy 2[]
Shurikens can be purchased at either shop for 300 gold. When thrown, they deal partly Wind-based physical damage to a single foe, also having a great chance to inflict Poison. They are slightly more powerful when thrown by Matt instead of Natalie.
In the Epic Battle Fantasy Collection, Shuriken damage is affected by the Attack modifier of Matt's equipped sword; prior to that, it simply dealt a fixed amount of damage.
Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]
Shurikens can be purchased at the Misc Shop in The Town for 300 gold. They can now be used for forging, with 60 being required to upgrade all of the relevant equipment.
As a thrown item, the Shuriken behaves similarly to its EBF2 counterpart, but its elemental degree and Poison chance were reduced. On the other hand, its power can be amplified by a user who has equipped the Ninja Gear or the Ninja Skirt; strangely, the latter armor boosts Shuriken damage even more than the former.
Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]
Shurikens can be purchased in any shop for 300 gold. To upgrade everything, 128 are needed.
As a battle item, the Shuriken's elemental degree was raised back to its EBF2 level, and its Poison chance is slightly higher than its EBF3 version; on the other hand, it suffered reductions to its base power and Poison duration. It's also notable as the player's best source of single-target Wind damage if properly boosted by Equipment Effects.
Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]
Shurikens can be purchased in any Material Shop for 250 gold, with 32 being required for forging. They can now be farmed from Hands, Cat Ninja, and low-tier mechanical foes.
In battle, the Shuriken now deals Bio damage instead of Wind damage. Its damage and Poison duration have been increased to levels unseen since EBF2, and both can be further amplified by equipment that improves thrown items.
