The Spelunking Hat is a male hat available in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. Its armor counterpart is the Explorer's Jacket.

Description

The Spelunking Hat is a light brown, possibly leather fedora. It has a dark brown belt around the brim, which secures a round silver headlamp to the hat. The lamp emits a bright white light when the hat is worn.

Normal

The Spelunking Hat affords moderate Defence and Magic Defence boosts along with a little extra Evade and an increase to Capturing chance, but it is most notable for its astronomical Accuracy boost, which is the highest of all male hats in EBF5. While Accuracy is generally unimportant, the hat can be used to mitigate the Accuracy penalties of equipment like the Giant Slayer, or just give its wearer a better chance of hitting evasive or over-levelled foes.

If its high Accuracy isn't needed, the Spelunking Hat faces strong competition from the Puppy Hat, which has comparable defenses and a capture boost while trading the Accuracy and Evade for some HP, a good amount of Magic Attack, and an auto-summon that can further improve capturing attempts.

The Spelunking Hat resists Earth, Dark, Stagger and Confuse, with the latter two becoming fully nullified at Level 5.

Equip Remix

The Alt Spelunking Hat is an interesting piece of headgear for support purposes. While its boosts to Defence and Magic Defence are mediocre, it has decent Evade and the ability to enhance both buffs and debuffs (including the Lock On it casts between turns). Although the other hats with buff and debuff boosts have superior bulk and additional effects, the Alt Spelunking Hat remains the only one to boost both types of skill at once and offer an auto-skill to take advantage of its buff boost; it's also the only buff/debuff-boosting male hat with an Evade bonus, which is particularly helpful for NoLegs.

The Alt Spelunking Hat resists Earth, Dark, Stagger and Confuse, becoming immune to the latter two at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5

The Spelunking Hat is found in one of the caves in the Wild Tropics, south of Hope Harbor's equipment shop. The cave is opened after completing Indy's quest, and the chest containing the Spelunking Hat can be accessed by solving a block puzzle.
