The Chopper is a Earth-elemental sword available for Matt in Epic Battle Fantasy 5.
Description[]
The Chopper is a large two-handed sword that appears to be a modified two-man crosscut saw. Its brown wooden frame has several small knobs (resembling cut-off twigs) and a pair of green leaves right next to the handle. The handle has some dark brown material wrapped around it (possibly Leather), with a strip dangling from the lower grip. The blade is silver and lined with small, triangular teeth; it also has two small metal protrusions sticking out of the tip of the frame.
Normal[]
The Chopper provides a decent Attack boost and great bulk for a sword; its Defence and Magic Defence are only second to the Love Blade, and they're backed by a small HP bonus. This comes at the cost of penalties to Accuracy and Evade, but they're very minor. Presumably on account of being a giant saw wrought from a tree, it will scare certain Tree and Plant-based foes into trying to Surrender or going Berserk with rage. The sword also has a high chance of unleashing Log with weapon-elemental skills, which can Stagger foes while benefiting from the sword's Earth boost.
With serviceable offensive power and solid defenses, The Chopper allows Matt to both dish out and take good amounts of damage. It's tied with the Sapphire Saint for the second-best Defence of any sword; while the Sapphire Saint has higher Attack, The Chopper's HP and Magic Defence bonuses make it bulkier overall. It stacks up similarly to the Hyper Drill, being less powerful but also less vulnerable to enemy retaliation.
The Chopper resists Water and Bio, but neither becomes an immunity at Level 5.
Equip Remix[]
The Chainsaw Blade might not have made it into EBF5, but its spirit lives on as The Alt Chopper, a non-elemental sword with high Attack and a good boost to HP. It empowers non-elemental skills, like the Sawblade it can occasionally unleash with single-target weapon-elemental attacks. Said attacks also have a high chance of lowering the victim's Defence by a fair amount, further amplifying The Alt Chopper's damage - especially since it can counter enemy attacks with Legend.
The Alt Chopper is arguably one of the best offensive swords in Equip Remix thanks to its combination of good Attack and a strong counter; the Alt Giant Slayer has slightly more Attack, but is otherwise inferior in almost every meaningful way. With that said, however, some of Matt's elemental swords have superior damage output in their specific elements; the Alt Inferno is particularly notable for its identical Attack stat and higher synergy for a Dry-based offensive. The Alt Chopper's plant-scaring effect should also be accounted for; scaring certain Gloops and Bushes can be useful, but making some Chompers go Berserk can put an unprepared party through a lot of pain.
The Alt Chopper resists Earth, Water and Bio, becoming immune to none of them at Level 5.
Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]
The Chopper can be found in a chest that drops after completing the first EBF4 simulation (Rafflesia) in the Data Bunker. Prior to the v2 update, it was located on the left side of the Grand Gallery, in the middle chest guarded by the Gold Blocks.
