The Thorny Creep is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is usually found in the Wild Tropics.

Appearance[]

The Thorny Creep is a brown insect-like creature with six stubby legs, four brown eyes and a pair of fleshy mandibles. It has a tan shell with blotchy brown stripes and a number of curved spikes protruding from it; the overall result makes it look vaguely like an exaggerated treehopper or "thorn bug".

Overview[]

The Thorny Creep is a defensive foe with above-average durability and below-average Evade. It uses single-target physical attacks, most of which are at least partly Thunder and Earth-based. Some of these moves can inflict Stun and Heavy, but the former is rare (except on higher difficulty levels) and the latter is generally not much of a concern.

The Thorny Creep can also hide in its shell to give itself Defend status; on higher difficulties, it also grants a strong Defence buff. These buffs make it fairly durable, especially on the physical side, but a Dispel effect will make short work of them; if Dispel isn't available, magic attacks will be more effective against the foe. Inflicting Burn, Poison, and Virus can whittle down its HP even through its defenses; it also can't guard itself on consecutive turns, leaving players with an opening to hit it without Defend getting in the way.

The Thorny Creep is weak to Bio, Holy, and especially Earth, but it absorbs Thunder, is immune to Stun, and resists Doom and Instant Death. Enabling "More Foe Resistance" makes it immune to Wind and neutral to Holy and Earth.
